It was the atf!! They brought in the most crooked group of people to run this operation!! One of the guys by the middle school was released and said the warrant didn't have to do with drugs! Not sure how true that is. Why couldn't hpd take care of this instead of bringing in the atf??

are you kidding me! Hpd take care of something!!! Lmao! Hpd are a big fat joke!!!!!! It's because when you tip the Hpd off and let them know something is going on and about the drugs- they sit around and wonder what to do- so it takes someone calling the ATF and letting them investigate everything. If Hpd gets involved they mess everything up!!!!

This apparently is a federal crime so HPD and RCSO would most likely be in a support role only.

HENDERSON, TX (KLTV)-
10 arrests warrants were served, and 10 arrests made early Wednesday morning in Henderson. According to the ATF, the warrants are for drug and gun charges.

Local, county, state and federal agencies were involved in the raid this morning. According to Henderson Police Chief Ronnie Walker, the raid began around 4 a.m.

Officials with the U.S. Attorney's Office say the defendants are charged in a conspiracy to distribute over 280 grams of crack cocaine in the Henderson area since September 2010.

On July 11, a federal grand jury returned a 14-count indictment charging 14 individuals with multiple counts of federal drug and firearm violations.

The following suspects were detained and will appear before a U.S. Magistrate on Wednesday:
•Deric Lamont Sheppard, aka "Big Shep," 32, of Henderson;
•Master Markeith Lacy, aka "Kiki," 36, of Henderson;
•Justin Lamark Porter, 23, of Overton, Texas;
•Ernest Vantrezes Mallard, aka "Duck," 30, of Henderson;
•Derek Lamarcus Horton, aka "Null Null," 27, of Kilgore, Texas;
•Marcus Derail Porter, aka "Blade," 30, of Henderson;
•Kail Demond Lacy, Jr, aka "KJ," 19, of Henderson;
•Randy Cameron, 52, of Henderson;
•Lattoris Dewuan Jackson, aka "Coonjack," 32, of Henderson; and
•Cornelius Marquis Murphy, aka "Papa Murphy," 21, of Henderson, Texas

Travis Lanard Porter, aka "Nard," aka "Travis Deamon," 35, of Henderson, and Johnny Ray Smith, Jr., 33, of Henderson, will appear next week before U. S. Magistrate John D. Love for their initial appearances, officials say.

If convicted on the drug conspiracy charge, officials say each suspect faces a minimum of 10 years and max of life in federal prison, along with fines up to $10 million.

If convicted on the weapons violations, officials say each suspect faces at least five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. The indictment also seeks forfeiture of property used to facilitate or derived from proceeds of the conspiracy.

The ATF, Texas DPS and Henderson Police Department are investigating. US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, ICE Homeland Security Investigations, Rusk County Sheriff's Office and Texas Department of Corrections assisted in Wednesday's raids.

Maybe they should... It's common sense that if you don't get the supplier (the big guy) this problem will continue

Did it ever occur to you that now that they have the small time guys they can now go for the bigger ones? They have bargaining power now that they have these guys in jail.

Law enforcement has their hands so tied that to build a case on something like this takes a lot of detailed, exhaustive work up front. Cant be done over night, and when it does happen they want it to stick. There are plenty of lawyers out there who love nothing more than to get these types of cases over turned on technicalities.

As far as the negative opinions on how this wont stop the drug activity....I prefer to be very greatful for a job well done and a pretty big dent put into the drug and gang parties here in Rusk County, with more likely to come as a result. Lets bask in that for at least a day or two.

Once again, the one and only West Texas Beauty (beauty??) babbles on.....Do you have your nose in everything? How do you know what will stop drug activity, or won't stop drug activity??? Now is it really the lawyers or the cops. I've heard rumors someone near and dear took some payoffs or dope as payoff....just sayin....."Big" dent, ya think?

HPD & Narcotics task force set up cases and hand those cases to the feds. Felony cases are good because those guys will do serious time rather than do a couple of months and be back on the street. As for going after the supplier....the supplier aint around here, just users, transporters, and dealers. Good point made about going after these guys to get them to talk about bigger guys.

As far as [Doodlebug] goes......just more gossip. You believe everything you're told as long as it is bad. It's one thing to joke with friends but another thing to spread rumor and then hope that ignorant people will believe what "you heard" is the truth. People like you are a minace to any good and decent people of any society.
