Give it 2-3 more weeks and a couple more beatdowns. Old Lion Stadium will be a ghost town on Friday night home games. To be fair its pretty pathetic that the school board took so long to get a new coach in here. If it was known that Meeks was gonna bolt after last season there should have been someone hired as soon as possible instead of waiting so long.

We have 6 starters and 7 guys that played back from Defense last year, so we should be as bad as we are on Def. And offensively we have the talent to be better. The coaches need to adapt there thinking to the talent we have. We should not be having a "Rebuilding Year"

Coaches need to get there act together.

I Want Meeks back.

This is all on HHS Admin. The grass is not greener on the other side. You should always be thankful for what you have, but HHS admin wanted a different face to the program instead of doing what they could to keep Meeks. We have a different face now, a coach that is more worried about appearance instead of winning games. Gilmer will hang 100 on us.

Playing kids to satisfy parents.
Playing not to win.
I have a nephew in the third grade taller
than number 15 who cannot play.
Meeks played to win.
This new coach, how it look.

I agree with your comment. Coach Brown applied for the job but adm. did not give him a chance. New coach, new system and inexperience is real hard. The fourth and seven when it was 14 even was the momentum change. We should had went for the field goal. The coach must help the players. That was the coach fault. Anyway the fans must support these young guys. True fans support regardless.

As long as the Supt. is at Henderson ISD,
Castle is bought and paid for.
Boles is looking over his shoulder.
Just watch.

Come On Really!?!?! We are just 2 games in. There is always a learning curve with new coaches and young players. Real fans will support the boys, and coaches through the hard times as well as the good. I think the Coach will be a great addition and will bring back a program to be proud of. How would any of you like to be judged on your performance 2 weeks into your job. Hang in there guys. It will get better. And Soon I think!

2010 State Champions
2011 Semi Finals
2012 Quarter Finals
That's a program to be proud of.

That did not happen over night either. I remember when Meeks went 4-6 in 2007-8 year. Henderson did not change things around until they beat Kilgore during Tyrell Jenkins Senior year. Meeks left due to his legacy. He knew the talent was not as strong as before. He bolted to Pittsburgh. Chapel Hill went through the same thing last year, but the coach stayed. Lion fans are beside themselves since they won a championship. All teams go through a down time. Back in the day, when they grouped everybody in the same bracket for as playoffs, it was real hard to win a title. Its easier now with the big and small school playoff system. If it was like the old way, Henderson wouldnt even won anything.I do agrre that the coaches need to do better in their play calling.

Meeks left because he was tired of a lot of ans bitching about his every move and how poor of a coach he was.

Never said we should not be proud of the program we had under Coach Meeks. We should be very proud. But we also have to know that that was a VERY TALENTED group of kids. This group has a lot of talent as well, it is just inexperienced and learning. I think they will pull it together. So please do not think I was downplaying what we had. Just saying that what we have is not as bad as some would tend to think.

I will support them win or lose. These kids are just as important as the talented kids that played the last 3 years. They are working hard and so are the coaches. Lets give them a chance. Their is no doubt that Meeks realized the chances or winning a lot of games this year factored in his decision to leave. The next few games will be tough to win, but hopefully they can get things figured out and get a couple of wins. I don't know if you noticed, but their has not been any helmets thrown, bad language from coaches or players and that should be worth something. You can't win every year.

If any of the doomsday fans noticed, they were really much improved fr PCA to Nac game. All the missed tackles that plagued them in Plano were not an issue this Friday. If they continue to improve between games like they did, they may surprise you. I am not saying that they are going to be State Champs again, but then again, I don't think anyone would have said that in 2010 either. All I am asking is for you to support the kids and support the coaches. Noone hates to lose more than the coaches and the players. They are all working hard and, as time goes by, will get better and better. Go Lions

Its good to hear the positive things from this forum.Lion fans supported when they were not very good in the past. It's amazing how winning gives people amnesia. I am looking for a win Friday night. How about yall.

So Im asking that the fans and the community to get behind these young men and coaches and show our support . See everyone in Hallsville. Lets not walk out on them like I saw some people did on Friday night.
Good to see you behind the coaches this year after you were so critical of them last year.

It would be interesting to know from those of you who have posted negative, mean and nasty comments and who seem to think they know all it takes to win....who of you actually ever played HS football? Who of you have actually coached an organized sport at an advanced level? Who of you have or have had kids playing on the team, or any HS team?

Just curious.

And yes, I can answer yes to all three. Seems to me that a new coach and staff would be given some latitude and some patience. And it really bothers me when the kids get run down.
