I am not hopeful. If -- and that's a pretty big if -- we win Pine Tree, then we might end up with a win this year...
Shame they didn't keep the boys in the class of '08 together when they got to the JV/varsity levels. From their first year playing, they didn't lose a game until they were split up between JV/V.

I Heard Pinetree has a very good team this year...but I'm like you if they would quit messing with the boys when they are doing so good eighth through tenth then they may just maybe have a good team....then you have the parents and all the politics then it's a different story, of you didn't play my son!

Well when the ones that are going to jail, smokin dope, and failing, but by a miracle get 20's changed to 70s on every report card until the last 2 six weeks, are getting attention and playing time that they do not deserve and people on the sidelines that have WAY more talent are not playing, no wonder they lose.

Half of the kids out there have great attitudes and a lot of talent, but with the outlaws around them they don't have a chance.

To win, they would have to have heart, and when you play your cheaters, losers, and law breakers, you are not going to be playing with heart. There is a lot of talent on this '08 team, but don't be hopeful, because although some of the good acting talented kids are out there, most of the talent won't play, the scum will.

Where has Henderson gone?? I remember when it didn't matter who you were, and you didn't get sympathy points because you had it rough, wah wah. It use to be how you played and how you showed respect. Now we have a kid that is suppose to be a senior, but because of failing so much is still considered a sophomore, and gets nominated by the coach on the pre-season nominations on Smoaky, HOW CRAZY IS THAT???

That kid probably didn't have more than 3 tackles all year if that, and he only played special teams and defense. I can think of way more talented kids for sure, and certainly way better acting!!

And where did all this start??? with the sorry Watson that is at Middle School, thank God, not coaching them now, but the damage still lingers..........

that is what I heard too!
Simple town politics. I know they don't play guys they should, because the parents whine like schoolchildren, and then if that doesn't work they say well I'm so in so and I'm a big wig in this town, and if that doesn't work they go straight to the superintendent.
It happend in all lines of sports, girls and boys, footall to baseball...basketball to softball.
It's never ending,
No I don't have a child playing but I do have a senior this coming year and will be at all the games as well as my child.

I really think Henderson needs to do drug testing for all athletes, well even in any extra-curricular activity, band, drill team, cheerleading ect.

Didn't one player get caught smoking pot, after the season was over but still got to be in the drill teams Spring show, I also saw more people who had failed grade walk across the stage, they said Mrs. Sullivan said they could walk but not participate by doing an act...duhhhh isn't walking in it participating. I know some that couln't be in acts because of their grades...so unfair...unless your last is _________ <fill in the blank!
Hopefully with our new principal things will be better.

I know of one who should have been tested for smoking pot while out of the country where it is legal. I did not think it fair for her to perform in Spring Show. I wanted to say something but Henderson has a way of persecuting people who snitch on kids with high profile parents.

Henderson should drug test all kids involved in any sport. Maybe they spent too much money on that hidiously ugly decor in the new lunch room at the HHS. I do not think the team will be any better this year and the drill team talent after this year will not be very promising. After this year most of the girls with any formal training will be gone. There is really only about 1 left and it will be obvious who that is.Last year it was obvious who carried the Drill Team.I have taught dance and could tell the one formally trained dancer( the captain that was slightly shorter than the other captain has the best technique). I heard she choreographed and taught the dance for the officers that brought home a Superior trophy according to the Henderson paper.I wish I knew her name I would offer her a job. The HISD should also address the issue of Sports abuse (when the parents lash out at their children for not doing better for whatever reason). Parents need to realize this kind of behavior can only be negative for the children and is considered mental abuse.I have seen too much of this type of behavior in many towns.Good Luck to your football team, maybe they will surprise you.

Until you get rid of the administration/staff that cater to their favorite people, nothing is going to change.

Maybe I need to sit down and study what all the favored ones have in common.

Nah, everyone else needs to study the inequities some of the administrators (especially certain assistant principals who, THANK GOD, did not move up to take Sullivan's place) hand out with impunity.

It's a crying damn shame the KIDS suffer for the adults' political positioning and BS.

I was so pleased to hear too that the one asst. principal did not move up.
(talk about an administrator that plays favorites) I'm just glad my kids will not be in school when that persons children are.

Now back to football...i'm so ready for the season to start, but I sure hope when we play Kilgore they have the smarts to put people at the schools and stadium because Henderson has gotten hit by them sooooo many times, you'd think the school would be smart enough to learn by it.( but then again look who we are dealing with (or were) at the High school.

Did Mrs. Sullivan leave?? Is she not the principal any more?? I guess I am behind. I would love to see someone who will drug test and who will not force teachers to pass football players. Mrs. Sullivan is a great person, hate to see her gone if that is true.

If Sullivan is so great why didn't she do something about the drug testing or passing students to play.

It's not like Sullivan and the other staff are the only ones passing players to let them play, this happens all over the state of Texas. But I think the football team will improve this year, we had so many young players for the past couple of years starting they really didnt know what was going on.The defence will be the the backbone of the team with players like Torin Hart and Joe Price who have been playing since they were Sophmore will really step up this year and with young players like Tobias washington, Carmer Hurt, and Telvin Fyrman who played last year will have a understanding of the game. The real issue is the QB postion, but the offence will have a bright spot with Justin Horton coming back. So the football team will be good this year.

The scarey thing about mentioning names is you better make sure they are not the ones being protected because once their name is mentioned, it is open season. Funny you mentioned Joe Price, he is the main one I was talking about. He is still a sophomore from failing.......... Torin Hart is truly a gifted athlete, good kid, impact player, I am really surprised he has not gotten more attention than he has!

As far as it happening all over the state of texas, you need to check your facts. In east texas they have tried in several schools to get away with it, got caught and punished.

The only reason Henderson has not been stopped is because they have no wins. If they did start winning, those players would cost them their wins, and for what, none of them are impact players..........returning some kick offs, whew, there are more you mentioned that can do that that run a 4.6 and faster. I would think that is not worth the risk, while kids are standing on the side that if given the chance would fair way better.

Also, maybe if the rules were followed and we were more competitive, we would quit losing impact players to other local schools and we would have a QB.

As far as Mrs. Sullivan, she is a rule follower, if the coach goes to the teachers, they have kids that play sports, what do you think they will do???

Letting kids walk the stage for certificate of attendance, PLEAZZZZZ what is that?? takes away from the kids that followed the rules

I am just so disgusted

Next Henderson, I realize you are a kid, I believe I know who you are and you seem to stand for what is right, and hopefully, you are a rule follower and can encourage the other kids and coaches to follow the rules so that the upcoming kids that are trying to make a difference can succeed without it being taken away!
