Church hunting

Does anyone know of a good church in the Henderson area? I've recently relocated and am in search of one. I visited one this morning, and without naming names, was put off. The message was all right, but after sitting in the pew 10 minutes afterward, not one person came to say hello or anything. As a believer, I don't take it personally. I've heard the quote "a church is a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints," quite a bit lately. So I think it's important to find a church in which people can get out of their comfort zones and social groups and welcome all. Any suggestions?

Why don't you just visit around till you find one that meets your expectations.

In my own personal experience, the Assembly Of God faith are very congenial. For example, at Henderson Metro Church, the people go out of their way to greet not only new people but other members. I am Baptist, however, and have noticed
that in the Baptist churches (here in Henderson) people are more "reserved" and don't necessarily go out of their way to greet people that they don't associate with. Maybe trying another Faith will appease you.

Ebenezer baptist on F.M. 3310 is a wonderful church with great congregation and great pastor, when my wife and I moved to Henderson we began to look for a church home and food Ebenezer and fell in love, it's a smaller church with an attitude to serve God! Come see us.

Don't just all Baptists by one church. If you don't like a church then go to one that fits you. Don't go into a church expecting to change a church.

Bar None Cowboy Church is where I make my church home now. Very friendly and accepting people and quick to say hello. Went to Calvary before and nice people but didn't quite feel the spirit for me.

I do not know which churches you have visited, and First Baptist,Henderson may be the one. If so please give it another try, or feel welcome to visit us. This is a large church and hard to get to know every one there, but I do know that there are people there that would be glad to get to know you and have you worship with them. Just let yourself be known by approaching someone or even the Pastor,and let them know you are searching for a church home. Fill out a visitors envelope with your information, Ask any one to direct you to someone that will be happy to welcome you to our Church. As I said The Pastor will be glad to welcome you and you will really get a lot out of his sermons. Sunday School is great there too, ask for someone to direct you to Sunday School directors and they will be glad to introduce to people who will give you a big welcome.

Hillview baptist has an awesome preacher. Relaxed atmosphere. Great experience. Come visit, would love to have you.

I found Crossbridge ( Kevin Holmes pastor ) to be the greatest group of welcoming people I have found in 23 years of attending church ----March 24 plam Sun. and Easter Sun. March 31 meeting at the Baymont Inn at 10:15 ---all invited to celebrate Jesus with us !

I was a member of Calvary very loving church family. I love to visiting Bar None, listen to Jason every Sunday morning before I leave for Sunday School.
I grew up at Frist Baptist, and last summer God moved me back. Love our Sunday School material by Lifeway. Bro.David is a very loving and caring person. We'd love for you to come visit. Sunday School 9:15 am
Service 10:30 there are men at all doors to show you the way.

Amazing how many people God moved back when a new pastor came to town.

I have attended many Baptist churches in Henderson and have yet to find one that I felt welcome by the people my age or gender. When I walked in Calvary I immediately felt welcome until I started attending Sunday school where I felt alone. Many people I have met at church(churches) in Henderson won't even acknowledge me outside of church, especially those in my age group. My child was completely shut out of her group in one of the churches and when I approached the youth director he blew it off. Sad that the people in church are so standoffish.
