Another one?
Come on people. You have to be blind and stupid not to see the FAILURE of Nevada's legal system to protect the Citizens, even if they are in prison.

Someone needs to be held ACCOUNTABLE for all these deaths while in custody. If it isn't the cops abusing, shooting or terrorizing Americans then it the Prison guards killing people.

We keep telling everyone. Its not the bad guys that are the enemy but the law enforcement agencies that cannot be trusted.

Is there any out there, that is willing to fight for American Freedom and US Constitution for the people, including those in jail?

Nevada reads just like pre WWII Nazi Germany.
Nevada leaders really need to wake up and see the corruption in this state.

A Nevada state panel has approved settling claims against the state by an injured prison inmate and the father of a boy who committed suicide while in state care.

The state Board of Examiners approved a 139-thousand dollar settlement Tuesday with former inmate George Simmons. He was beaten by other inmates in May 1997 at the Southern Desert Correctional Center and suffered a brain injury.

The other claim was for $175,000 for Donald Sullivan. His 14-year-old son, David, committed suicide in January 2006 at the Northern Nevada Child and Adolescent Treatment Center in Elko.

The board is made up of Governor Jim Gibbons, Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto and Secretary of State Ross Miller. They decided it was better to settle than to fight the claims in court -- where juries might grant big awards.

Very scary. Mostly for the poor. Money really does make a difference in the legal system. Especially Nevada.

I cannot believe the comments here. A prisoner hangs himself and it is the officerís fault.......... Are you kidding me? If an inmate wants to kill him or her self nothing we do can stop them. Maybe, just maybe the inmate who commits suicide did it because of remorse for his or her crime; perhaps they feel they have nothing to live for. I feel for their family because they are left behind to suffer the loss but again how is it the officerís fault? I see that "AGAIN" clearly hates police and government, let me guess "AGAIN" you or a family member or close friend are or have been incarcerated? I am sick and tired of people saying correctional officers abuse inmates, I work in a maximum-security prison and I can tell you for a fact that the real abuse comes from the inmates. How many of you work in a job where you get urine or feces thrown at you because an inmate is pissed off about not getting the answer he wants from his lawyer or because he got milk with his dinner instead of a cold coca cola. In the facility I work in, every single time we move an inmate there is a camera present so that everything is on record. This is done so that we canít be sued for something we did not do and so that we canít harm the inmate without recourse. The time I had to move an inmate out of his cell while it was on fire because he wanted to die, he spit on me because I saved his life, GO FIGURE. You seem to be forgetting that these people are in prison because they have broken the law; they have violated the social contract that we all live by. And so when one of them decides to kill themselves we are to blame? Does that mean you are all to blame for every kid in the outside world who kills themselves because they can't live with the shame they feel for being sexually molested by a sick SOB who happens to now be in prison? I don't see anyone here screaming out about the real victims, the people left behind to rebuild their lives after someone breaks into their home or mugs them on the street or kills their husband/wife/daughter/son, etc. Before you talk about how things run in a prison or how officers are killing people try going and spending a week working in one, I'll wager you change your tune real quick.

Plain and simple, when a prisoner is in custody it is the responsibilitiy of the "Pigs" to keep him safe. they simply don't care about their prisoner, and can't do their jobs in a satisfactory manner. But that is why they became pigs. Could not succeed in anything else. My condolences to the family.

Prison systems need to be expanded to accomodate more prisoners that need to be kept incarcerated longer, when the CJ system is finally made to fit the punishment to the crime. We are absolutely too lenient on criminals. We need harsher sentences and more capital punishments all the way around.

How about some down home tar and feathering before incarceration! or maybe a full blown crucifixion. You could probably sell tickets, to add to the county's coffers. They need the money sooo badly.
