OK, so my mother turns out to he selfish as hell. She decided to taie it upon herself to claim one of my kids on her taxes without asking me. We do live with her, but not long enough for her to be legally able to claim her. I don't ask my mother for anything at all unless it is a ride to tue store or an appointment. I take care of my kids all on my own financially. Now that she has done this, she is talking about paying house taxes, getting a new computer, and fixing her car and water heater. Does anyone agree this sounds kinda wrong? If she is going to claim my child, then she should at least offer the child something for her deduction on her. Doesn't look likely.

She is putting a roof over your head and the kids! Saving you thousands in rent! Let it be and forget about it! Good luck!

Your momma ain't fixing and going all that just because she claimed 1 child. Give it a rest. Plus the water heater and car repair will benefit you as well. Who likes a bold bath or shower in the winter? Plus you're going to need those rides you talk about.

Both of you are in the wrong. She should have asked you. What she did is tax fraud!!! You sound selfish by crying that you're not going to get the money. You should have offered her some of your tax refund for letting you stay there and giving you rides when needed.

The length of time you live with her makes a big difference too.Six months or longer, she should claim the child.I don't know whether you help with food or rent and utilities but they're not cheap. She should have asked first though.

I did not live with her long wnough according to the IRS guidelines. And yes...I earn my keep and help out financially around here. It's not like I am a freeloader. She knew I had intwntions of letting their dad claim them, but she had every intention of doin this...with or without my permission. She chose to do it without my permission. That's fine. She may be audited soon enough anyway.

I DO take care of my kids idiot. Every thing they need is done by me. From their clothes, schooling, appointments, and so on. Their dad helps also even though he is not in the home. People are so quick to judge that I ak some lazy ass freeloader who asks my mother for everything. Far from it.

That's what I was thinking too. I just had to ask. Ya know, give her the rope to hang herself in this conversation.

I hate people like you. You're probably only getting 5 grand back instead of the 10 you was hoping for while I worked my ass off and had to pay in. Wanna fix your problem? Don't live with other people.

I am not defending this person but there is not a 5,000 dollar difference from having one les dependent. Please quit inflating numbers it makes you look crazy. People keep griping about taxes without knowing what their talking about and to me it sounds like all they want to do is gripe instead of contributing to the discussion. The refund I'd based on lots of different factors. I don't know of any low income family that has ever gotten 10,000 back. Max EIC is 5,891 and that's with 3 children.. If you make more than 45,060 you don't get it and to get the 5,891 your AGI is usually in the middle of that amount. Here is a link read for yourself. http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/EITC-Income-Li...

Well, thank God you don't know my mother as good as I do. She won't see her grandkids out on the street for one. For another, I am working on finding a place for myself and my kids. It's not like I EXPECT her to take care of us. I hate judgmental bastards
