I like History, it's rumored that Southgreen Tobacco used to be a bar, and 5 people were shot and killed there, already tried looking it up, couldn't find any info, just wondering if anyone knows anything about it, or where might be able to read up on it.... Thanks

The building where South Green Tobacco is use to be a bar back in the mid 80's. Can't remember the name of it but it was ran by a man and his wife. Most of the clientele was black. It was only opened a couple of years. The owner told me the reason he had to close it was, even though he usually had a good crowd most of his clientele would buy a beer and try to make it last all night, or he would catch them sneaking in their own bottles of liquer.

If that's the same place I am thinking of, I remember one shooting that occurred there that resulted in the death of a man but was ultimately ruled self defense.
If you are interested in Henderson-Henderson County history, I recommend you start by reading up on the wild and woolly "Little Chicago" gambling years. Some the biggest name bands of that era played here. By comparison, not a whole lot has gone on here since those years.
