Wow! Sad situation for everyone. Kids packing guns like it's no big deal, innocent people put in the line of danger (and this has not been mentioned due to lack of importance I suppose but) this will hurt the theatres buisness. We were just planning on going next week but we won't go now. It's a shame, that is such a nice place and it is a boost to the area's economy but now decent people won't want to go there or let our kids go. I am not anti-gun but I am anti-kids-with-guns acting like fools. The violence is getting out of control. Why has this not been on the news? Is this something we will only read about on topix? WHOEVER had the gun needs to be held accountable in a very harsh way and all involved should be disciplined. Parents need to stop setting such bad examples and raise your kids right!

Well said Leadbyexample! Sounds like you are raising your own child and teaching him right from wrong! That is so rare these days and it is a very sad reality! I send my child out and worry that she will be one of the innocent that is in the firing range of these miscreants that have no positive influence in their lives! All we can do is give them the love and knowledge and pray they are never in a position to worry about how poorly someone else behaves. Scary, scary world!

I am very glad you, your family and everyone else got out safely! I also hope this is or has been brought to the police and the publics attention and they catch the guilty party. The more attention the situation gets, the better the chances of it being dealt with. Every witness should be questioned and all leads followed to ensure measures are taken to remove that person from society for a while. I would be shocked if the gun is ever found but at least they could put a stop to the person that had it.

Never claimed my child does no wrong but he sure doesn't carry a gun or hang with people who do. Never said kids don't make mistakes. I am better than some because I chose to live my life on a better level. You gave your child good advice by saying "don't start the fight, but protect yourself". I say the same but encourage him to protect himself in a different way. I don't see reasoning as a bad example. I do not back down either but chose my battles and the way in which I engage in them. If someone wants to swing at me, that's their choice but in most cases I wouldn't be involved in something that would result in that behavior being exhibited to me. If I or my son were forced to resort to physically defending ourselves, then we would, but I still say its the least intelligent way to resolve anything. That doesn't make me better, it is just wiser. I sure don't challenge people to come fight. I am most concerned about the GUN being in a public place but I am also appalled by this Joanie's way of downplaying it all and her setting the example, that if someone doesn't like something or says something you don't like then resolve it physically. I could care less if people talk trash about me because if they are doing that, then what does that make them? Those are not the type people that would accept an invitation to say it directly to me.
Now if you would have said it this way the first time I would not have chimed in.. When I read the first response it came across as you bashing Joanie.... I agree with you for the most part.

I do want to discuss who actually had the gun and ask what is being done about it? The only reason I commented to the one boys mother was, she posted multiple times with a confrontational attitude. My only point was for her to stop acting as if that's the way to "handle" a disagreement. Point made.....now....back to the topic....Whoever had that gun is a danger to others and needs to pay the consequences for their "mistake" so they can be shown that is NOT OK!!
From what I have heard from other mothers, this Tapp boy is & has been in the court system for awhile & nothing is being done to him! I know personally that Kiava fought one of my friends son at the High School over Tapp picking at him till he finally laid it to him & this kid is still out causing more trouble! my son didnot fight nor have the gun! My son has been taught to defend himself!!
