yep, no one gets hired on except higher ups. we all have to go temp first. If you have small children, DONT go to work there. Your children will grow up without you. Its a good paying job but you don't see your family.

I agree. My husband use to work there. Quitting was the best thing he did. Scary at first because we were a little worried about him finding another job paying as much, but was the best move. I was basically a single mom with him pretty much no chance of going on days. He would get close and then they would push people back to nights and he would be pushed back in number. Now he gets to see the kids all the time.

They will hire without the temp service. Only people with excellent backgrounds, like ex military and experience in similar work.

True, but only if your going into management or skilled possition. If your going to a TM on the floor like most of us your going thru the temp service first. It doesn't matter who you are.

I've been there for 10 years and still on nights. Remember one thing!!! If you go up there to work you WILL go thru the temp service and when or if you get hired on you will NEVER see dayshift. The only chance you will ever see days is if they go to a rotating shift. All the Toyota plants that swing are on a 2 week rotation which would be worse than straight nights. IMO

That seems to be a common complaint as I have heard that same story about Toyota a number of times. I have a couple of friends that chose to quit for mostly the same reason. One friend who was an actual Toyota employee, and not a temp, soon found an equaly good paying job with better, less stressful working conditions and closer to home.

He got lucky... I can't find a job that pays near that type of money or I would quit too. If you take your pay with good OT and your Benefit package it's a 6 figure a year job. I have a high school education. I would be lucky if I could find a job that pays half that.

My husband got lucky too. He took the buy out when it was offered. He was in the last group to leave with it. He signed up not really expecting to go through with it, but when the time came we both knew it was the right decision. At that time, and I don't know how it is now, it was getting really bad out there. It seemed as if they were looking for excuses to get rid of/ fire Toyota employees because they new the temps would do the job for less money. Working there was just not worth what it was doing on his body plus not being able to be involved with the family. He has a job now making the same amount, but we do pay for our insurance which Toyota had a much better plan.
