Maybe if the Republicans didn't give all the Town & County jobs to their inbred, mentally deficient relatives, people like this could have worked & been productive citzens & taxpayers. |

Remeber folks, Hempstead became the way it is, after eons of REPUBLICAN rule! All hail Mondello, D'amato, Margiotta, Gulotta....

I agree with you 100%, dont matter what color, the bottom line they caught those hoodlum, criminals before they had a chance to do anymore damage. They could have possibly hurt or killed one of the childeren, or an innocent bystander. It seems as though they were ready to committ a criminal act right then, walking around strapped, like they belong to the police force. Thank you NCPD for taking 2 more criminals off of our streets. |

Why do your people post forums that makes no sense. Whites are always attacking blacks. Blacks are always counter attacking. Has anyone farted it all smells the same.

everyone states black, white or hispanic- wake up people when was the last time you saw a problem like this in jericho, roslyn, upper brookville, this only happens in freeport, hempstead and roosevelt.the police aren't sitting outside our schools when the students are let out at the end of the day.take the guns off the street of these towns before its to late.

Im writing a story about people feeing unsafe living in Hempstead. Clearly this story tells us why people feel this way... Does anyone have any direct experiences while living in Hempstead??? How can we change the crime and violence that goes on in these street? I went to take pictures around the area for my story, and I was scared to even get out of my car...what do you think?

The so-called mayor vetoed any atempt to create such an environment for the children of Hempstead. He was concerned that Mayor Garner and the current Supt. of Parks would look good. He has never been concerned about doing the right thing for the Village. |

I agree wholeheartedly. Kids could have been hurt just walking the hallways. The parents are so stupid for blaming the school and police for a thug's actions! They're the same people who think that the school has to babysit their child and perform miracles. This is why I can't raise my future kids in Hempstead. |

this is for Bio_hazard79,i understand that the smoke is thick now in Hempstead, but if i send my child to school damn it they are my babysitters until my child return from school, and yes it should be some accountablity for that school also.

Hofstra student, let me know how to contact you off blog and I will tell you everything you need to know--I have lived in Hempstead for 48 years. There is more than this media will let you know. |

listen..there is more to hempstead than terrace ave..martin luther king drive.. believe me..dont get scared , you have hard working people out there trying to make that place better for them and their children. One or two incidents doesnt make that town any worse than lets say,the west end in long beach, levittwon or hicksville..hope you do good on your report |

I agree. The school is ultimately responsible for the child's safety while on school premises but that wasn't what I was getting at. What I meant by that many times a parent doesn't want to get involved in their child's education and they expect the school to take care of everything with no parental accountability...that's the part where I meant babysitting. |

What are some after school activities that the high school students can participate in? This besides sports that could help get teens off the street. Is there anything?
