poor decision making once again. Hall told the fire department he knows nothing about fighting fires. What's he doing then?

Hey DZ,

Excellent point on the medical issues.

The Hemet city council changes the mayor position yearly. The new, fun position will be that of "Mayor Pro-Tem" (formerly Vice Mayor). There are some who are so "giddy" about being Mayor Pro-Tem they just about pissed their pants. We sure have some clueless, egotistical jerk-offs on our council.

And I would also like to know the current residence of Frenchy. Since he folded on his home on the west side of town, his whereabouts are unknown. I've heard rumors of Temecula. He should have to publicly disclose, at minimum, proof he still resides in this city. Just because he's in law enforcement, it doesn't give him a free pass to not have to disclose this information.

As far as how we can get things done. Well, that's a question I have for everyone on this comment board. I know there is group of us who have knowledge of what's going on. Some are tied to the city and some are not. My hope is we could all get together and form a plan to bring the integrity back to Hemet. The future of Hemet demands this.

Look at what they did in Bell. All hell broke loose. The citizens banded together and brought down the crooks. Go to a Hemet council meeting and what do you see? A concerned citizen or two? It's apathy at it's finest (or worst-however you want to look at it).

And speaking of the future, there are more "Petty Puppets" waiting in the wings to get on the city council. One of those puppets is, JOYCE THIBODEAUX. She is Larry Smith's sister-in-law. We need to encourage some of those from the last election to run again. We need to campaign for them and get them on the dais.

And one last thing (for now), we need to put the pressure on the city council to FIRE BRIAN NAKAMURA!

He doesn't. He's never been employed in the fire service. He may have seen a fire truck when he worked in patrol, some 25 or so years ago.

He needs to go. Brann needs to go. And Brian Nakamura needs to go!

Oh and just to clarify, Joe Brann also has no fire service experience.

It's clear Nakamura is unable to do his job ... All these idiot consultants with health issues is scary for Hemet. With Dave Brown as police chief, and Hall admittedly not knowing a thing about fire, what is the city paying for? What are these people doing ?

Nakamura is doing "his" job as he sees it; taking care of HIM. He is lining his pockets with the city's money, illegality is nothing new to him. Research a bit on this very site and you will find a rather detailed copy and paste from his days as a city manager in Oregon, where he illegally used his spending authority to cost that city ten thousand dollars a month for IT "services."

He is clearly a thief of the first order; not on the size of Madoff or Corazon, but that is something that he dearly regrets. His character is 100 percent the same.

That this council shows its lack of character is equally disturbing. Someone on this thread stated that in the sale of the refuse department, it was never shown what the refuse department generated in profit for the city. Would you sell your house without finding out what a new one would cost? Of course not, yet that is exactly what this council approved. Why? Because someone is getting paid.

You would not accept the kind of behavior shown by your council members or city manager from your teenager, your employee, or your business partner.

You would take strong action if you found someone you depended on conducting these kinds of actions, hiring needless consultants, making transparent lies but murky financial transactions, and doing things you specifically told them not to do.

Instead of going to council meetings, or in addition to, why not circulate a petition to remove these people from office immediately; circulate a letter demanding an investigation by the Riverside County D.A., and demanding oversight of their investigation by the state and federal agencies due to the influence over the county by the people being investigated.

The Press Enterprise is subservient to the local governments and is not a reliable source for anything.

March 27, 2003

By Steve Mayes, The Oregonian, Portland, Ore. Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News
Mar. 27--OREGON CITY, Ore.--The city canceled its contracts with a computer consulting firm hired by former City Manager Brian Nakamura, claiming he was not authorized to sign the agreements.
Some current and former city commissioners said Nakamura also didn't follow orders to solicit additional bids for work. In the past 13 months the city has paid Covenant Technology Systems almost $613,000, but some city officials wonder whether the work could have been done for less.
The city terminated the contracts with Covenant on Monday and will rely on Clackamas County's information technology department for computer support until a contract can be rebid this summer, said Larry Patterson, who was hired to help run the city and find Nakamura's replacement.
In November, commissioners voted 4-1 against giving the contract to Covenant, an Oregon City firm formed last spring that was the only bidder on the city's computer services contract. They told Nakamura to rebid the project.
Nakamura hired Covenant in March 2002 to upgrade the city's computer network under an informal agreement after the city laid off its in-house technology specialist. The company was doing work for the city's police department at the time.
On Jan. 6, Nakamura signed a six-month contract with Covenant. A few days before Nakamura left his job Feb. 28, he signed a second contract that could have retained Covenant through June 2007, apparently without telling the commissioners or asking for approval. Terms called for paying Covenant up to $10,000 a month for basic maintenance and service.
"I don't feel I circumvented any process," said Nakamura, who is public works director in Riverside, Calif.
so he went from being a city manager to a public works director? isn't that a little backwards?
isn't that what you do when you're trying to hide?
City officials also are concerned about a standing offer made by Choquette to pay a finder's fee to clients and others who refer new business to Covenant. The policy does not apply to referrals from public employees, Choquette said.
he's after finder's fees, alright. he's dead set, like others have said and is overly obvious, on "selling" every last bit of city infrastructure that has been built by actually talented city managers over the past fifty years.
how many cities do you know of that make a LOT of money, some say two, some say FOUR million dollars a year in profit that they can put into the cops and fire, which eat up half of just about EVERY city budget in the country?
once that money is gone, they'll sell off the pd and fire to the county. ain't worked out for anyone else that's done it, their cost keeps going up every single year. do the research.
it's a crime alright. what a joke, pointing fingers at the rank and file. pd does their job better than the county, and the county isn't bad, but every city police department is better.
you don't see los angeles contracting out it's trash, do you? wonder why? it's because it's almost impossible to lose money on it. gee, do you think that's why the trash companies want it so bad? bad enough to shove it in your face and "sponsor" the state of the city party? what a joke.
city of bell is right, these clowns make those clowns look like pikers. these morons are ripping you off in broad daylight.
sure would be funny to see a handful of people get up to the podium in a council meeting or two and read this article out loud.

Political posturing. Frenchy doesn't want to appear as though he WANTS to give up mayorship. He wants to appear as though he was FORCED to. Due to Frenchy not living in Hemet all this time. Follow me?

Well, I just got off the phone with somebody who is interested in reading it. Hopefully there will be more.

I hope Brian and the city council enjoy the holidays because the new year isn't going to be so pleasant for them.

Don't care if Petty is gay or not, that's not the point. The point is that WE NEED TO GET TOGETHER, all you good folks on this blog, and DO SOMETHING ABOUT HEMET'S PROBLEMS!

Exchanging emails or phone numbers here is useless at best, dangerous at worst. Maybe we can set up a meeting? Maybe at a City of Hemet park? On a Saturday morning, SOON? Please get back to me on this, I am SERIOUS! What could anyone do about a group of like-minded folks meeting at a public park? NOTHING! I am not talking about any kind of "occupy" this or that, just a meeting of like minds, in order to exchange information. And to formulate a plan-of-action.

Christmas Eve at 10 a.m. is a bit early. But still a possible time. Minus late-minute-shoppers, of course. I think/hope most intelligent folks are done with shopping by then.

Definitely stay in touch, I am looking forward to meeting you and any other concerned Hemet residents ASAP.

DO NOT let this opportunity escape us, please!

If we need to put this off until early 2012, so be it. But do not forget that we have a BIG problem that needs to be resolved NOW!

Too many issues are put off "until a later date" and then forgotten.

Let's not have this HUGE issue be one of those.

Nakamura has worked hard to be a really nice guy so nobody wants to believe that he is as dirty as he is. He only hires unsuspecting people that he has worked with before and who are so clueless they don't even have the thought to ask questions - either that or they are desperate enough to keep their mouths shut to keep their jobs.

His pathetic minion Mark Orme who professes to be a bible thumping christian to the bone and carries out the deeds as assigned. He has no choice but to go along, there is no way he could ever get a job on his own. He went from a gopher intern to an assistant TO the city manager, then the TO was dropped and HR added along with a cool $40,000.... he is now deputy cm, sans HR, but still collecting the extra dough.

And at the core of it all is John Petty throwing around Chaudrie's dirty money.

You have a county planning commissioner who has been promised the supervisor seat by stone if/when he abdicates his thrown.

This same planning commissioner has also strategically placed at least 2 city council members in San Jacinto and 3 in Hemet, and is running the show in both cities like jeff dunham.

Oh yeah, and Chaudrie donated heavily to ALL campaigns run by Petty.

...and Petty is puppeting Stone on the Highway 79 so Chaudrie can make money off the deal with all of his property in that corridor - and Petty gets his cut.

There is more, so much more....

Oh, and being bad at math, the same 4000 dollars a DAY that Nakamura is "spending" on two office bound (when they aren't busy being ill or crashing cars into the motoring public) cronies is the equivalent of, and PREVENTS a whopping SIXTEEN cops from patrolling our streets EVERY DAY.

That the average cop takes home a paltry 75 grand a year for risking his life to a traffic stop or domestic disturbance is the measuring stick, not his fully burdened rate.

Plugging benefits into the equasion unfairly loses sight of the fact that at their pinnacle, a consultant CAN ONLY TELL YOU WHAT YOU ARE ALREADY BEING PAID TO KNOW.

How pathetic is it that voices of reason not only question a patently obvious gift of public funds cleverly disguised as a simple waste of money, only to be roundly ignored and dismissed.
Yet when a simpering lightweight gadfly entertainer raises the same objection, THEN the issue suddenly seems weighty enough to warrant a response from the head thief, er, chief in charge.
It really is as simple as a duck test: Nakamura did this very same thing in the city of Oregon City wnen he was city manager there.

OVER the objections of that
council, he "spent" TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH on a "service" that was questionable enough that he left employment there, under a hail of suspicion, and at the verge of "criminal charges."

These are FACTS, not merely my acid tounged writing.
This has been brought to light on many occasions by several different sources. It seems this council has chosen to willfully disregard Nakamura's past and endorse an immensely questionable set of activities.

Kudos to Foreman and Youseff for raising the bar, at least getting it off the floor where it has been lying for the past couple of years now.

Nakamura's motives need to be more than questioned. This council OWES it to the citizens that elected them to have some honesty in their actions. Quite frankly, city managers truly are a dime a dozen. At the rate of pay that is routinely handed out, real talent can be had seven days a week.

If anyone seriously thinks it warrants a quarter of a million dollars a year plus the unfettered ability to loot the public treasury in broad daylight as necessary to retain a city manager, then there is no point in being incorporated.

Vertical integration of production has long been the cornerstone of economic success; last time I checked Walmart only followed the Standard Oil protocol. JP Getty would be turning over in his grave if he was to be confronted with the sales job of contracting out the city that Nakamura has been pushing down this council's throat.

To take a full service city and dismember it for personal gain, under the radar to line his own pockets, seems far more to be Nakamura's goal than to improve anything for the citizenry.

the city manager needs to meet with the consultant so that the consultant can tell him what he is going to do--this seems backwards--isnt the city manager in charge and shouldnt he be telling the consultant what to do--who is working for whom? brings up a follow up question--is our city manager qualified?
