I was awake 2:30 last night (early Tuesday) August 24, 2012. I heard them (the police) roar by with sirens. Sounded like several police. Got on scanner on iPhone and they were chasing car with girl 25-30 driver. Other female in rear and driver were hurt. badly. They had called in 2 life flight chopper. Sounded like the wrapped around tree on drivers side. There was also an instantaneous fire and two fire companies and an extraction team to get passenger out of burning car.

It was three girls. Crashed into a tree. Car split in half all three died. I was very close to two of them the driver idk but the other two were in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person. There is a candlelight vigil as we speak. Tragically enough, its not hemet its the people in hemet.

Anyone have a clue why these woman ran from the cops? Now families have to bury their daughters...sad.

I mean were they doing the drive by shootings cause they were bored? It is called "get a life".

It is reported one is still alive, let's hope she can give some answers, and hope this is enough for her to correct her wrongs.

Well, I've heard through the grapevine, & don't know if any is true: all three have passed. One reported to be 5 months pregnant. One of the girls was the second daughter in a family to pass. It was reported that the car they were in fit the description of a vehicle that was involved in 4 shootings in Hemet & San Jacinto. So I'm just guessing, for the driver to take off, must have been implicated somehow. Heard they were going speeds up to 100mph.

The car was suspected in drive-by shotgun shootings a day or 2 before. It was the same car. Girls stopped. Officers were questioning them when the driver decided to take off at a high speed. Not much later, at approx 100 mph on Whittier, driver loses it, spins a couple of times, impacts tree dead-center on left side of the vehicle. Cops were just calling off the chase, too dangerous. 2 girls dead at the scene, I heard the other girl has since passed away.

That's the short story. I wonder who the car was registered to, and was it stolen?

I have seen the car...massive damage for a full-sized, full-framed big car. Literally wrapped around the tree. 90 degree bend in the middle. Surprised anyone survived the initial impact. The fire appears to have been confined to the engine area, no passenger compartment fire damage. The roof was cut off in an effort to extricate victims/survivors.

RIP, girls. Whatever you were running for/from was not worth your lives. Sorry for the families losses. Some better decision-making on the driver's part, and this may have been no big deal.

Don't run from the cops...if you haven't done anything, you have nothing worth losing your life over, and maybe taking other innocent folks with you. If you HAVE done something to justify the cops pulling you over, "man up", face the music, and deal with the consequences.

New info. The car was registered to the driver, and she had a felony warrant. The first 2 officers on scene extinguished the fire. Apparently, there was also a dog in the car. The pit bull was dazed and confused, as well as probably injured and scared shootless, but managed to run into the open door of a nearby home and hide. Don't know what eventually happened to the pit bull. Seems to me that he/she may have just been a bystander, and not in the car after all. If that dog WAS in the car, that is one badass pit bull!

Sad for the girls killed, glad that no one else was hurt or killed in the chase/crash.

what in the world are these people doing setting up a memorial for a bunch of low life drugies. have you seen the picture in the pres, drive by whittier & state, this is about as dumb as it gets. the city should take this memorial down and not allow it to be put or kept up. this kind of BS should not be accepted here or anywere!!!

I can understand your feelings, but they were somebody's children. How do you know they were into drugs? Is this why they were out in the middle of the night? Why did the driver just take off? It makes no sense to me? Just thank heaven innocent bystanders weren't harmed. If they were druggies, then their friends putting up the memorial, are just a little late--should have been telling them to straighten up--if they really cared about them. And birds of a feather, flock together, so ifn' they're druggies--no good end will become of them either.

The driver "took off" because she had a felony warrant for her arrest. Don't know if any drugs were found in the car. Don't know if there is any possibility of drug tests on the girls involved. Anyone know if the third girl did indeed pass away? The car was occupied by 3 or 4 males when the drive-bys happened. The girls apparently did not have a part in the drive-by shootings, so they lost their lives for nothing more than the driver not wanting to be arrested for her warrant.
