I was enjoying reading this post, blog, whatever, until it deteriorated into 8th-grade-level name-calling and other immature crap.
I believe this was frog's intent to begin with.

If you wanna talk about a horrible fire dept, look up the annaville volunteer fire dept. They rape the citizens big time of tax dollars, but never can handle a situation without calling other fire depts. I wish I could tax people and whenever they needed me I could just call for free help.

To the original post, I'd like to inform some people on some things.

As a firefighter, we workout constantly to stay in shape. The job is very demanding and when you have to climb many flights of stairs to rescue someone, you want to be in the best shape possible to save a life.

Yes, we always cook at the station. Main reasons is because at the fire house, we are one big family. We eat together as a family. Plus its healthy compared to fast food.

We try to wash our trucks frequently. Best way to put it, how would you like to see a dirty emergency vehicle show up to your house vs a neat and clean vehicle? We try to make our vehicles look just as professional as we are.

As far as sitting around doing nothing, that's what a lot of civilians think. In our down time, we train constantly. We will read a lot of things to do with our profession. Or we will train physically from bunker drills (throwing our gear on in less then 60sec) to search and rescue drills. Point is, we are always productive during our down time.

Sleeping all the time? Lol I wish! More like we sleep when we can. On an average house fire, it last between 4-8 hours. Other calls we go on include medical, trauma, car accidents, any type of rescues you can think of, gas leaks, water leaks, obviously any type of fires, electrical, the list goes on and on. Between everything we respond to, we get very little sleep if any. We are lucky to eat 1 good meal in a 24hr period.

Well, hope this helps. KCCO

So it's just a figment of my imagination that when I go to places like the City of Riverside, CA, I don't see on-duty firefighters sitting inside of chain restaurants, eating and carrying on? And when they do receive an emergency call they are slow to get up and get to the fire truck in the parking lot?

And what is with these guys driving around in tricked out BMW's, Lamborghini's, and Mercedes vehicles?

Glad you guys in Texas are motivated and doing your jobs. All I see around here are self-entitled, ego driven, money hungry doucheballs.
