Wow, another black gang murder in Hemet. I sure hope that city hall employees get a raise.

There's another tragic, senseless shooting in Hemet!

The life of a 17 year old boy was taken Saturday night. Sean Jones was shot and killed at the 400 block of East Kimball near Juanita.

This community needs to get it's head out of the sand and advocate for increased public safety. The San Jacinto Valley has succumbed to crime and carnage.

Residents and visitors must be better informed about this treacherous town. The media, especially the Valley Chronicle needs to better serve it's readership. Bring us the REAL news - right on the front page!

The Valley Chronicle should start printing a "police blotter" and report ALL criminal activity that takes place in the valley with the exact date and location. Increased public awareness is a valuable tool that can help law enforcement crush crime.

Residents must demand that elected officials get their priorities straight and make public safety the number one priority AT ANY COST! Law enforcement must be beefed up. Any program that is not central to public safety must come under scrutiny.

The valley is a war zone. If it will put one more cop on the streets - shut down the library "hood ornament."

Lights out at 10:00 PM - don't wait until it's out of control.

As a law abiding African-American, I will concur that the city of Hemet has "went to hell in a handbasket". The ignorance that a lot of these moronic criminals display is truly sickening....

We've used this informative tool for more than a year. Resource it is - however, it's not very accurate or timely. Where is the information about the 3 victims that were just shot at the 40000 block of Stetson? And, why is there such a lack of information about these shootings? Exactly where did this incident occur? What are the cross streets?

City officials and the local media are suppressing this information. If this level of gang warfare occurred anywhere else - it would be all over the news! If the general public was better informed about the criminal activities in the community - there'd be a huge stampede and a herd of residents would start leaving this valley. Wouldn't that dry up the revenue and sales tax in the city coffers?!

Recently, I was told that a business owner on Florida stated that they were "paying for increased police presence" at their store. Is it possible that this level of police corruption exists in Hemet? I certainly hope this is not so.

Whenever you have this much civil "unrest" in an area with a high concentration of gang activity - they're engaged in turf wars. It doesn't take rocket science to connect the dots between these shootings and now the killing of a kid.

School just got out and the mercury hasn't even hit the triple digits, yet! You can bet your boots, It's going to be a long, hot summer in Hemet.

This young child wasn't a gang member. He attended H.H.S with my daughter it was idiot gang members whom crashed the grad party. Who took this young child's life. You are correct the city needs a wake up call for this being such a small city, there is a lot of gangs here. Gang task force, community involvement etc. We do not want this becoming Los Angeles gang infested...

Bad news-It already has become "Los Angeles gang infested".

Don't you ever wonder how LA's crime rate has gone down? Look towards the San Jacinto Valley, San Bernardino, etc. for the answer.

you want increased public safety?? well it's going to be hard because the city leaders are issuing layoff notices and according to the police union rep in the PE.com , 14 of the less than 60 police force are being hired by other agencies. Even the cops in this town are down dealing with this crap....time to pack up and get out and let the cowards kill each other.....this is no place to raise a family anymore....

"according to the police union rep "

Are you naive Marine ?

You can't expect facts from a public employee rep.

Look at the politicians they support.

They are corrupt thugs.

No I'm not naive Jerry, and I don't care about their politics, I do care however that if there are no cops in this valley to take care of things then I'll have to keep my kids in doors and handle business myself. And then of course you know I would get rail roaded because I'm not a thug with a criminal record so they wouldn't offer me probation rather they would want me to spend 20 years in prison....

I did not say that the victim was a gang member. This was a murder committed by gang members. My heart goes out to the family.

It is our responsibility to be handle business ourselves if our family's well being is threatened.

I am sick of hearing whiney city & county employees describe themselves as God's gift to the taxpayer.

" ... we risk our lives every second of every day."

You are not safe walking across this valley because it is easier to make a report, after the crime, than get out of the car and do poilce work.

Best of luck to you marine, semper fi.

I would have to agree with the Marine. If you are a fist time offender you get shaft without the curtesy of vaseline. As for if you are a known gangster you get the chance of probation, yeah that sounds really fair now doesn't it? We should be just like texas, 3 eye witness's and you are on death row! or make it easier and a lot cheaper and use a firing squad.

If you want to truly stop violence in your neighborhood, START RIGHT THERE, in your neighborhood! Police YOUSELVES, if you don't want PD involved! Control the negative factors in your own little piece of the world first, then call the PD. Don't ask PD to come in, then blame THEM for the problem. The problem is YOURS! Own it, fix it, then call PD to clean up what's left.

Sorry young kids are dying, but it's not PD's fault. It is YOUR fault for not controlling your own problems in the first place.
