Reading some comments on this post about Hemet. So sad to read such negative feedback about living in Here. In the short time I have been in this area, I have found nothing but honest, friendly people who have gone out of their way to help me. I truly believe that it is you who find some self serving mission to destroy what is good in this town. Did you ever think that Hemet is a goldmine waiting to happen? We are 1/2hour drive to the wine country, 1/2 hr drive to Idlewild and within minutes to the largest Bass fishing lake in California. And an affordable place to live. Aging babyboomers come on down, I want to grow old with you.

Yep, always the new liberal in town overjoyed at our quaint little town.

Just wait til SWAT comes next door to your house to extract some felons or you get robbed.

ENJOY THE PINK CLOUD WHILE YOU CAN.

I agree, this place is not as bad as people make it seem. I was born here, graduated high school and college here and enjoy my town. People need to grow up and stop complaining unless they plan on changing the things they have to gripe about. In Hemet if you stay away from the druggies and wanna be gang bangers you and your family will be fine.

Take some pride people, negativity will kill you in the end, not petty crime in town.

Have any kids in Hemet schools? Not bad compared to the inner city LA schools, not great compared to Murrieta/Temecula schools......Teachers love em', change in school demographic (compare test scores) and increased crime and violence in school, not so much. See crimereports.com for latest WV violence (assaults, theft, robberies, etc.) and PE.com for latest hazards of walking to school (HS students robbed at gun point, Brubaker Park).
Nah, nice little safe town....

Yes, there are great, nice, friendly, people in Hemet but as every day goes by the ratio of those people and the people who are, how do you say.....not cut from the same moral cloth....get closer and closer.....and hopefully by the time it starts to go the other way.....I will be gone...

Plus the hookers on Florida are always fun family conversation.

Actually, there was a school locked down yesterday when the police were trying to get a parolee out of a house on brown st they had to shut down San Jacinto Elementary. It may not be Hemet, but San Jacinto and Hemet are the same area with the same people and problems.

Every community has it's issues...especially in SoCal.....no matter where you go there will be drugs, gangs, some form of prostitution, sex offenders, but I can't preach it enough...check out www.crimereports.com and compare Hemet to other cities of similar sizes (not all cities report their data). The number of sex offenders will scare the hell out of you. If you really want to crap yourself, put the view out to 30 days (think it defaults to 14 days). If nothing else it will help you see what areas to stay away from. It is not an exact science (as I know from what I do for a living, not all crimes are reported on there). You will get the idea.

If you want to make positive change, get a group of citizens together and attend a city council meeting. Every single one of you needs to use your 2-3 minutes to tell our elected officials that this city is headed down the wrong road.

I recently moved here myself. I came here from a small Kansas town and to be honest, its was bad there too. At least here, there's no shortage of police funding (that I'm aware of).

Be careful where you go especially at night, there is a lot of drug activity going on and prostitution on Florida Ave. Beggars at the stores, Target and Von's are one of the worst parking lots for that. . I also just read about State St and Stetson parking lots are also pretty bad. So just be aware of your surroundings.
