Your first mistake is taking it so personally. Your second mistake is assuming to know what I think.

Hemet didn't have a problem 30-40 years ago. But, this perfect storm was created by Valley Restart; churches; corrupt politicians; greedy developers; businesses in bed with the local press to suppress the news about the criminal activity in the valley; corrupt realtors not disclosing the truth to buyers about the high crime rate; the economic downturn; loss of police and safety personnel; building a sea of single family homes without infrastructure and jobs; Riverside County designating Hemet the parolee dumping ground; and idiots like you that stick their heads in the sand and cannot connect the dots.

The point is Hemet cannot take care of all the homeless in Riverside County - but they sure as hell are going to try. That's a marriage made in heaven as Riverside County considers Hemet the perfect location for building a new, "regional shelter."

Apparently you haven't been around long enough to actually observe homeless people being dumped out of police cars from other cities in down town Hemet - true story - much to the chagrin of local businesses.

You never saw the giant "We're Watching You" billboards on Winchester Road and Ramona Expressway? The Valley Watch group were raising awareness about the huge numbers of pedophiles that have moved into the valley. Those signs were posted at every school site and all the police cruisers sported "We're Watching You" bumper stickers. Granted this was several years ago. Before your time? Perhaps you haven't been in the valley long enough to witness the "transformation."

Do you realize that Hemet has 269 registered sex offenders and Murrieta has 32?

Hope I'm not "bursting YOUR bubble." I'm just telling it like it is. Don't take it personally.
Unbelievable

From one idiot to another, to presume that I take personally anything you say is giving yourself too much credit. What's more telling is that you use a statistic (Murrieta/32 registered sex offenders) which is actually lower than the state average. If I didn't know better I'd think you were a politician cause you're pretty good at trying to manipulate the numbers. You've lost all credibility. Oh, and by the way, don't take it personal but maybe you oughta take that stick outta your ass cause it's affecting your mood!

Wrong i was here 30 years ako, and it was the hemet city council and the rest of the crooked politicians that turned this city into what it is today, Not the churches and valley re-start

VRS is a partnership of the public, private, and religious sectors of the San Jacinto Valley. Many local businesses support our efforts along with a myriad of government agencies including: The Riverside County Departments of Public Social Services, Mental Health, Riverside County Sheriffs Department, City of Hemet Police and local service organizations. There is input into operations from the San Jacinto Valley Homeless Task Force, the Human Relations Council, Riverside County Housing and Homeless Continuum of Care, Adult Systems of Care, and the Interfaith Council.

Leaders of area faith-based and service groups collaborate their efforts to ensure that certain needs are met. These include volunteering, providing home cooked meals each night, fund raising activities throughout the area, and donations to our participants as well as to the Shelter in general.
Ultimately we hope to help our participants break the cycle of homelessness. Using intensive case management, we provide individualized referrals and support, life skills training, and job-finding skills.
What good are job-finding skills in a place like Hemet?
The problem with our town, Chris, is all of the above.
Hemet is Homeless Heaven
Actually i agree,The whole system needs changed,They should have zoned this valley more like temecula,With more industry and jobs.

Valley, re-start has had a lot of funding cut from the program over the years,My wife helped set up food donation from the grocery stores, years ago when it first started, but that has long since been terminated, and i don't agree with temecula, sending their homeless our way either

Not just Temecula, but murrieta, menifee, mo val, perris, romoland, green acres, san jacinto, anza, and..........Drumroll......... .Winchester.

Yep, hemet is the dumping ground for all the surrounding cities.

So sad.

I'm glad we don't have that problem in lovely Winchester.

and the backers of valley restart don't live anywhere near the vicinity because they are not stupid. they get the sheeple in their congregations to feel like they are doing something. and they are doing something. allowing those with 'affluenza' shed the guilt and help lazy drifters and con artists continue to milk the system.

they're up in idiot-wild and look down upon those 'down the mountain'. they drive in from the nicer parts of moreno valley, the older established parts of hemet. but are they anywhere near menlo and state after sunset? NOPE!

HEY HEMET CHURCHES WHY DON'T YOU TAKE THE HOMELESS INTO YOUR PEWS? YOUR GUILT DINNERS ARE HURTING THE REST OF US. but they don't care because they're doing THE LORDS' WORK!

Not so quick on the draw, Winchester. I love your Western cowboy ways. But, there's trouble in paradise. For 16 years Winchester was home to a top Osama bin Laden operative named Adam Yahiye Gadahn. Ever hear of him? Just turn on the news, tonight.

this whole shelter thing is hurting us by, well do i really have to spell it out:
vagrants unemployed mentally ill jobless felons criminal folk are coming by the busload.

but that was a rhetorical observation and not a real question. no one is that naive or stupid. bring in a few hundred homeless to any town this size and see what happens..
