They are calling it "slope failure". It appears that too many houses were crammed into a sloping area that was unable to bear the weight of so many homes, causing the ground to slowly begin to slide downhill. Greedy developers try to cram 10 houses onto a quarter of an acre - more money in their pockets. If you live in a subdivision built on a slope - be prepared.
