Only someone from VA would link killing animals with child abuse. In Pennsylvania public schools we learned how to spell civilized.

Is it true that NY pigeons have slightly different DNA then the ones in PA. What are the fines for stealing NY pigeons and transporting them across state lines. Is it one fine or for each individual bird? Hope these guys have all the paper work on where each bird came from.

This conversation has obviously degenerated into a bunch of degenerates with nothing better to do than be vulgar.
Yes, I know what Heyoka means. The heyoka did all those things because they were/are sacred. As is all life to my people. Including pigeons.
The only issues I have are with people who do not hold life sacred. All life.
There are humane ways to deal with wildlife issues. And I believe treating animals to cruel torture is pretty much equal to harming children. Both are innocent and helpless. It's a proven fact that many sociopaths often start out by abusing animals first....then move on to people.
I'm done. I have better things to do. Have fun with yourselves since you obviously don't...

Makita why are you picking on red necks? You are a mean person. Is this topic about saving the birds or about you being a nasty racist. You are always calling some one a red neck or fat. Did your daddy touch you?

Bringing up something that digusting I would have to ask you the same question. You are one sick puppy. Must be one of the boys from Strausstown Gun Club. Am I right. Good try boys.

Makita Look where Palmerton and Strausstown are on a map. They are not close. You are a mean person. Why are you so negative. Everyone else on this site is polite. Also why do you know about pigeon DNA

What does digusting mean? The boys at the gun club even know how to spell disgusting.

There is nothing wrong with compassion and showing kindness to an animal. That is a quality to be proud of. This practice is so beyond the bounds of human decency. Our world needs more of that - not less. The Humane Society deserves a lot of credit for taking a stand against this senseless form of cruelty that belongs with dogfighting and cockfighting.

It doesn’t matter that the pigeons that will be shot at the Strausstown Rod and Gun Club may or may not be diseased. It doesn’t matter that they come from a big city where many of the residents are glad they are gone. It doesn’t matter that the shooting annoys the neighbors or that people will handle the maimed creatures without a single thought of the cruel way the injuries where inflicted on these tiny, tiny birds.

What matters is that not enough have come forward to protest this barbaric “sport”. I have read all the postings and most have been reduced to sniping at each other, thereby nicely turning the spotlight away from the issue at hand, which is the despicable practice of shooting a frightened and harmless bird out of a box.

Many people in PA are happy to avoid confronting the lawmakers in Harrisburg in the hopes that someone else will take them on to stop this practice as well as resolve the problem of puppy mills in our state. Lancaster County is known as the puppy mill capital of the east coast. Do Berks County residents want to be associated with the slaughter of pigeons? As a Berks County resident, I emphatically do not!!!

I personally do not like hunting and I have a problem with those who hunt for the trophy they can display. The only thing a shooter at this meet will be able to do is claim the bragging rights on the number of kills he or she makes.

Greed prompts the Strausstown Rod and Gun Club to hold this “invitation only” gathering, just like puppy mill operators. Neither care about the animals involved in their money making operations.

Stop the slaughter now? Are you nuts? Pigeons offer as much to society as you and Makita do? You should be ashamed you live in Berks County. Reading sounds like a nice place after dark? You need Batman not protesters. Animals taste good!!!

Barbaric sport? Most sports are barbaric, thats what makes then entertaining. If we banned any sport that was so called "barbaric" we'd only have golf, swimming, & curling. Oh boy , what sports they are

How Many years are We going to debate this??
Make it illegal already.......Clay birds are probably cheaper!

If you have to have the increased difficulty level; Try Doubles in Trap and skeet. Or Just go Duck or Dove Hunting.

p.s. I doubt anyone who makes 10,000 or less could afford a shotgun

If the pot bill passes, all you tree huggers will have something better to do than bug a few good ol boys just getting together to kill stuff.

Will, maybe you need a job since you seem to have alot of time to for writing in...then maybe you could also afford to feed yourself and wouldn't have to resort to pigeon meat.
really, you all keep making yourselves look like the small minds that you are. as far as minding our own business, thank god someone looks out for those who cant' speak for themselves. otherwise, things like child abuse would also just go on unreported....
We have laws protecting us from barbaric behavior because we live in a civilised society...well, at least some of us do....thank god i don't live in Pennsylvania
Pa wouldnt want you anyway. We dont take kindly to people who marry their sisters.
