Why was there no adults at this lego club? Let me guess, they let the child traffic flaggers handle it lmao. That school is the most unorganized school in the state. Why didnt they just let the barboursville police teach at the lego club?? They are sitting there all day!!

The barboursville police arnt nothing but glorified mall cops with a badge. They are speedy to respond to a shoplifting call, but when there is a real crime they drag their feet and let county or state respond first!

Is the child ok? How or when was it realized they were gone? Very unnerving.

No, he was walking home. She doesn't work at hooters, she is actually a nurse.
Do you know the family? Is he ok? It's hard to understand how this happened. I do hope he's doing well.

Yes i know them, and he is ok...it's nothing short of a miracle that a pedophile didn't pick him up or that he got hit by a car. It's unbelievable that not 1 person in the rush hour traffic didn't stop to help him. The family is asking for support with this and call or notify the superintendent to let them know how horrible this is. The higher ups say they are concerned, and some are, but they seem very dismissive about this and are turning it around saying that parents should teach their kids about not leaving school alone. Go on to the herald dispatch sit and read their comments, it's pretty shocking.

Wasn't this after school was out and the teachers weren't involved?

My child walked out of school during the middle of the day. It wasn't the same school. But I know how scary that is.

At least 6 sets of outside doors in most school buildings. They cannot be locked from the inside for emergency exit if necessary. 500 kids going to and from lunch etc every day. Keep the kid home if he is not ready to appropriately follow common school rules.

I'm having trouble uploading the link, but if you search google "herald dispatch school officials review policies" you should find the link.

Actually it was a private sponsored after school program. In no way connected to B'ville Elem. or CCBoE. So blaming teachers and admin. is not going to accomplish much. This is a scary situation but blood lusting is not going to fix it. As for why didn't someone stop and help the child. In todays society its a risk to be a good samaritan. If I stop to help is the family going to try and sue me and mine. It sounds ridiculous but it happens more times than not. Its just the world we live in now.

It was connected. The school sent out a letter to the parents about the club. So how exactly is it not connected. It was also held inside the school, and some after school program children attended. So yes, it is affiliated. My child is in 1st grade at the school, I recieved the same letter. She is not blood hungry. If you read her posts on facebook, all she wanted was the issue addressed by the superintendent and he told her she was over reacting. THAT is when she called the news and started blasting it. She even said the Terry Porter (principal) was sincere and apologetic. Its the higher ups that were in the wrong. And as a parent, if my child is at school they remain the responsibility of the school until they are picked up or dropped off from the bus.

Lego club started at 2:45, ended at 3:45. She was on her way to get him around 3:30 and found him on east pea ridge. The woman in charge of lego club said she saw him there and remembered him becuase she gave him a snack. But she somehow didn't realize he was gone long enough to walk that far?

Guards at every door sounds reasonable. After all little Johnny or Judy have no responsibility to stay in a safe school building.

Maybe you should take a course in reading and comprehension. I didn't blame the school. I didn't say anything like that. All I said was I know how scary it is. I'm sorry your middle school education isn't working out as well as you'd hoped.
