< if your gay and disagree with the kissing booth than shame on you! When straight people set up kissing booths no one thinks differently about it, but if you set up a gay kissing booth, everyone all of a sudden has a problem with it. I see from a few comments that people have made who are gay and disagree with it, and all I have to say is stop acting like your on the bad guy's side, and get behind what is right. SHAME ON YOU! A vicious lie! The fact is that statistics show that almost all (more than 90%) of child molesters are straight men. Most child molestations are committed by WHITE straight men. It is far more dangerous to take your kids to the stockyards with a bunch of drunk straight, white cowboys than it would be to take them to a Gay bar.
I'm a Gay man and I was molested as a child by a straight man. You may try to claim that this is the reason I'm Gay. I knew I was Gay before any of that ever happened.
You discredit yourself when you make statements that are based in hate rather than fact. You might as well be molesting me yourself for trying to invalidate a horrible thing that happened to me as a child.
If you are not going to take the time to know what you are talking about then shut the hell up. All you are doing is promoting lies and hate. So much for your strong christian and family values.
There are many misconceptions about the Gay and Lesbian community. If you want to make more informed decisions, I suggest you start here: http://www.trincoll.edu/prog/safezone/Facts.h...

Sounds like a big ole Swine Flu fest to me ...

I find kissing booths rather gross, regardless of the gender or sexual orientation of those doing the kissing. Kissing strangers isn't appealing to me.

Not true!!! 100% of child molesters are sexual deviants including gay men. You can conger up numbers to prove or disprove any argument you have but please don't mistake them as fact.

Probably the best post here. For or against PDA. Germs don't give a crap whether one is gay or straight.

I expressed a point, that is FACT.(Yes, CAPS!)=p Stop sticking up for the straight people, they need to be exposed to homosexuality, because the sooner they see it, and their kids see it, it will become normal. the problem is they are not exposed to it, and it is up to us to teach them right from wrong. if a straight person wanted to have a kissing booth, no one would think twice about it. but, sooner than later (I hope) two men or two women can walk down a street (any street) and hold hands, and maybe even give each other a kiss, without having someone looking them up and down.

Actually, it's going to be difficult for you to be there since the event was held last month.:-)

But your second statement, "we have rights too leave us alone", cuts to the heart of the whole point I've been trying to make since the beginning of this thread.

You see, from the perspective of many GLBTQ people, you dont "have rights too" ... you have all the rights, period. Because when it comes to issues that truly matter, we don't have the same rights you do. We don't have the right to marry in most places; we don't have the right to file joint taxes; we don't have the right of inheritance; we don't even have the right to be with our loved ones when they're in the hospital.

True story: almost twenty years ago, my partner was lying in a hospital room in a coma. He was expected to die at any minute. I had been out-of-town on business, got an emergency flight home, and raced to the hospital to be with him. I arrived after visiting hours, and the hospital security would not allow me to enter because I "wasn't family". I pleaded, showed that we lived at the same address, and even proved that I was responsible for his hospital bill, and they still wouldn't let me in. I had call his estranged brother, who had refused to have anything to do with "those queers", and convince him to come down to the hospital and tell security I should be allowed to go in.

Can you imagine being put through that kind of legalized discrimination if you're husband or wife were dying?

Those are the equal rights I'm fighting for, and I don't think any decent person would deny those rights to any other human being, regardless of differences in religion, color, sexual orientation, age or other distinguishing characteristics.

Thanks for listening.

The actions of all conservabigots seem to point towards one ultimate goal: To push and hold TLBG people to the far edges of society. Part of that are attempts to make us invisible, to keep us and our lives as unknowable as possible in order that their lies about us receive more credibility.

I see a lot of that in this thread. I also see some of my community, presumably older, white and more affluent members, suggest that staying low, keeping quiet and not provoking people is a better strategy. I cannot agree with that anymore.

Without direct action the LGTB community will NEVER gain the rights we demand and deserve. This Kissing Booth was a good idea, in my opinion. I would have added another one, for heterosexual people, or even better, one to represent each part of the straight and GBTL community.

With direct actions like this kissing booth, our political advocacy will be more effective. Without them, our concerns remain vague and difficult to understand by those living within the framework of cissexual and heterosexual privilege. We need to go out and non-violently shake things up, as much as we can.

What for? Equal rights and equal protections. No more, no less!

I certainly respect your opinion.

However, the Fort Worth City Council on Tuesday night voted to extend the city's anti-discrimination laws to include trans-gendered people. The people who worked quietly and effectively behind the scenes to get this law passed included many older, white and (in some cases) affluent members of the GLBTQ community, and few (if any) of the so-called "activists" who caused such an uproar last month in the Stockyards.

So let's see ... the jury's still out on what, if anything, the operators of the kissing booth may have accomplished; but the non-provocateurs have definitely achieved something positive that will actually have a great long-term effect on the lives of Fort Worth's transgendered citizens.

Not provoking people doesn't necessarily equate to inaction or capitulation.

Some food for thought ...

We need both - quiet, behind the scenes advocates as well as direct action. The two go hand in hand.

The BGTL community have to stop hiding and start physically putting their a$$es on the line the same way other oppressed groups have in the past. When that happens in conjunction with work within the system things will get done.

Civil rights are never granted, they are won.

I'll alert the educational and government institutions that did these studies that their data is obviously incorrect. I guess they should have just called you in the first place and saved a great deal of effort and money. Where is the basis for your "facts" ? Oh, I forgot, your Bible. Or rather, you're interpretation of your Bible. You can conger up biblical quotes to prove or disprove any argument you have but please don't mistake them as fact.

You're right and you're wrong.

100% of child molesters are indeed sexual deviants.

However, it is also true that of the sexual deviants who are child molesters, more than 90% of them are straight men. Less than 10% are gay men. And a very, VERY small percentage of them are women.

I agree with several of the posts about it being "tacky". The idea itself seems confrontational and totally sends a wrong message. Why not erect a kissing booth for all to enjoy? I still think the idea of kissing in public to be kinda bleh, but hey, to each his own.
