There are a lot of us who agree upon the fact that our city's mayor is doing a horrible job as mayor. And we complain about that fact. But there are people who say " you folks are a lot of talk. Your not going to do anything about the mayor".

When the November election rolls around, there will be four city council seats up for election or reelection. Voters in the city limits need too ask the candidates what their stance is about the job that the present mayor is performing. And if they agree with the job that the present mayor is doing, then vote against them. Be sure and get your family, friends and neighbor too vote against that candidate.

By putting four people in the city council seats that will vote against the mayor as need be, will be the first step in getting our city back from this horrible mayor.

I'm no fan of JMac personally, but would someone tell me exactly WHAT he had done that makes him a terrible Mayor? Seems to me our finances are in very good shape. The City hasn't laid off any workers during the recession. We paid cash to create part of the new Rotary extension of Front St, a small park will soon be built downtown with bathrooms. Services seem to be handled well... I'm just sayin'.... leave the personal crap out of this (because NOBODY has provided any more proof than a rumor) and tell me what he has done wrong?

I know Jim Lay is seeking reelection in his ward and I think his opponent is the lady that is the head of the chamber of commerce. I think her last name is Gardner.
.
Then I heard a man named Nick Adams is running for Josh Miller's seat on the city council. Josh can't be run for reelection, because if he wins the state rep seat, he can't be on the city council. And some lady that works at real estate office, the one that use to be Brock Realty, is running against Nick Adams. But I don't know her name.

Would someone please help me out with the names of those two ladies?
And also, if you know the rest of the field that is running for city council and what ward they are running in, please inform me with their names and the ward they are seeking election for.

I'm with you! It seems to me personal issues are the main problems that have been talked about. Our mayor does a fine job.

I know the woman who is head of the chamber is Melisa Gardner. I'm not sure who is running against Nick Adams, but if I lived in that ward I would vote for him. He's a family man and would take a stand against anything he felt was wrong or unjust.

If these people only knew the real reason. The absolute truth of why Jackie fired David smith they would be so shocked and upset. It's not my place to say on this site of why it happend but if you know david smith and you know Jackie then you would truely know why. It would upset you. I've lived here for 33 1/2 yrs and know them both very well and I know their past. The reason our town is in order is because of the few good city council members we have left on the city council. Jackie can do nothing without their approval. He doesn't even have a vote in it. Try going to a city council meeting and see how it is run. If Jackie did have a day so then yes it would be run very poorly. I can't believe that the long term residents of Heber springs don't remember all of Jackie's past. That's why Jackie got rid of David because David knew tooooo much. It's kinda common sense. And if we let Jackie's friends take over the city council then it will really be bad for the city because they will do as he says and that's not good. Not good at all. I strongly suggest that the residents of Heber go to these city council meetings and you can see who is Jackie's friends and who has the best interest for our fine community.

I've lived here a long, long time to brother. That's why I asked them how long they've lived here. And I'm in total agreement with you post. It's good to see people ask questions about the mayor, because that opens up a great opportunity too educated them about our local government. Especially if they haven't lived here very long.

I've got a gut feeling that Melosa Gardner is probably a Jerky Mac supporter. Truth be known, Jerky Mac probably sweet talked her into running against Jim Lay, because I think Jim butts heads with the mayor. God forbid anyone who stands up to the mayor. At leased, that seems to be the mayor's opinion.

I've known Nick Adams since he was a little kid. He has grown into a hard working, good man. But I think the mayor has pulled the wool over Nick's eyes, because I think that Nick thinks that the mayor has done nothing wrong. Nick would stand against anything he felt was wrong or unjust, but if his judgement got cloud by someone that he thought was a good guy, then his ability too make the correct decision would be greatly compromised.

Bottom line is the mayor wants control of the city council. And so far, he has done a good job of it. In
November, lets put people on the city council that will vote against the mayor as the need arises.

I also personally know Nick and I do not think that the Mayor has pulled the wool over his eyes. It doesn't matter if he had, if Nick doesn't think something is right he will stand up to it.

It does matter if Nick has the wool pulled over his eyes. Because if he has the,so called, wool pulled over his eyes, his judgement would definitely be clouded. So how could one with clouded judgement make a rational decision? It would be next too impossible for them to do so.

If he is doing a fine job as mayor, then please list the mayor's great accomplishment that he has done in his six years as mayor?
