What do you think about random drug testing in high schools on all students?

just another halfwitted idea the school has. They can't afford to keep teachers, have their heads so far up their asses on the dress code rather than education or who is getting bullied in the school. Drug testing costs alot of money, but if it happens, they better start with the teachers first. That's where the problems at.

that's what is wrong with America today to many people pointing fingers instead of putting the blame on themselves. Teacher's teach, but they can't control what happens at home, how many times have you seen a student study all night for a test?
Answer zero, students and american in general put no emphasis on education, this forces the educational system to lower its standards in order to avoid a massive drop-out and failure rate. In most countries a student goes to school to learn while most of our students go to socialize and disrespect teacher's because they feel they can. A teacher tries to discpline a student and a parents get pissed off because in their eyes their kids should not be discplined by what they feel are not worthy teachers. Reality check people the students need to change not the authority figures.

I totally agree with "the truth". When i asked about random drug testing in schools, there's seems to be a mixture of positive and negative responses. Once again, the controversy remains as fevered and relevant as ever.
While the issue of random drug testing for all students remains unconstitutional, educators and parents should focus on what is permissible by law, to help those students most at risk for drug abuse. In some schools, Student drug testing has always been allowed for those adolescents who fall under the category of "cause or suspicion," and it is often determined on a referral basis by students, teachers, parents or administrators.

agree. It is the parents that fail to watch their kids, that's probably why they do drugs. It should not be the teachers responsibilities to raise their kids for them. If the parents are so concerned about their kids doing drugs then maybe they should try to get them help. People don't like to admit that the problems originate from inside of the home. COMMUNICATION kids/parents, we weren't born mind readers, so yes it helps to speak but don't get crazy

Well said "america", you said the majic word: It is the parents that fail to watch their kids. How very true. Many of these children are not living in poverty; most have homes with televisions, computers and games consoles. What they do not have "are adults who are prepared to give their time and energy doing that most difficult but essential of jobs, raising their children properly". Too many children were turning up to school lacking the social and verbal skills to be able to take part in lessons and behave well.

We are in danger of becoming a nation of isolates, of families living separate lives under one roof. The bedroom, once a place to sleep, has become the living space for the young, spending hours in front of computer screens, on networking sites or immersed in computer games. Children and young people often spend little time with their parents and sibling/s.

The truth is that alot of the parents dont want to discipline their kids. They buy them everything they want.I see alot of kids in high school with brand new cars. Hell even better cars than mine. I dont agree that they should do drug testing at school because it would be a waist in tax payers money. We know who the drug users are more or less, and when I say we I mean us as parents, teachers, students. But if there is going to be drug testing for students they should start with the school faculty first. Alot of the teachers use drugs. I know who most of them are and the ones you least expect. I can name more than a handful. But mentioning names wont get us anywhere. Point is that kids need lots of discipline and IT STARTS AT HOME NOT AT SCHOOL!!! Let teachers teach and discipline your kids like I do mine.

Drug use in the United States is in a catastrophic state. How else can we stem the tide of illegal drug use but to enact and enforce stringent drug use laws. There should be no drug use in public schools.

Public schools are places for learning not places to breed illegal activities. And drug use isn't just an illegal act it is dangerous for the health and well being of our children who are still growing and developing.

All public schools should be drug free, not just middle schools and high schools, but also elementary schools.

RISK LOSING ALL THE ATHLETES? These "so called athletes", who participate in sports and do drugs, r not athletes. They're LOSERS!! Drugs may make players feel good initially, but the good feelings are typically followed by unpleasant ones. Drugs donít solve problems; they create problems and make coping with them even harder. Drugs donít make stress go away; they create stress.

Before judging golf you should try it. It's really not THAT bad. In fact, i bet when it comes to sports u are the last one that got pick or they'd rather not have you at all. What would be cool is soccer, talk about an excellent cardio workout.
