On some of the hard rains some back roads flood pretty bad. Highway 59 is usually okay if you stay on the inside lanes and the water usually doesn't take long to recede. Some roads to wister may be blocked sometimes.

No I am refering to last year when the city of Heavener announced that certain people are all the sudden in a flood plain, that have never had a flood ever. They have lots of people that have signed the protesting of it, now they are saying people have to get scientific or technical evidence contridicting the flood plain map.

They do not give the flood elevation on the map, so you can't contridict them because you can not shoot elevation.

They are just trying to increase the amount of people in the insurance pool. It doesn't matter to them if you're at risk for flooding or not. They just want your premiums to help pay for the people who do flood and make insurance companies richer.

The City of Heavener does not have to accept this abuse of power by paid off crooked politicians and government officials. They can opt out. Hopefully the City Officials are not paid off also.

That does sound pretty shady. Ask them where they got their "scientific" evidence. Sadly, though, if you go to court you are the one bringing up the argument that you are not in a flood plain so you would have to have the scientific evidence to prove it. When you do it, be sure to go to the press so these yahoos don't get voted in again.

You may have to go about ordering a topographic map. The library may be able to help here. Get in touch with the usgs, they might be of some assistance too. http://www.usgs.gov/ask/

Good luck.

Did this ever get resolved? I would take pictures of your property today. If it's not under water, I'd say you're well out of the flood plain.
