some missing facts here. Why were the parents asleep, does he get up, get ready, and leave for the bus on his own? Grand Theft Auto is a popular playstation game, certainly not suitable for a first grader!

What does this say about the kid's parents? True, there is a lot left out of this story, but still.... what kind of parents let a kid this age play Grand Theft Auto, one of the vilest video games out there? How were the parents so clueless that all of this was going on immediately around them? Drinking, perhaps? At least the kid was responsible enough to go to school.

The boy was so intent on getting to school on time - it makes me wonder what his home life is like. It sounds like this is one very independent 6 year old, getting ready for school while his parents sleep. There must be a deeper reason on why this child did this. They should investigate the parents immediatley.

I'm still wondering how the kid's foot pressed the accelerator. He must be quite tall. My grandsons who are 9 and 8 would not be able to reach the accelerator effectively and still look out the windshield. Well, I'm glad the kid's OK and his mother needs a kick in the a$$. She needs a good course in child rearing.

The dad was on the news, and said he was looking for the younger boys shoes, when the 6yr. old ran out the door. I can't believe how determined this boy was to get to school. I'm glad he wasn't badly hurt or even killed.

True we don't know the whole story! But my my concern is does the child dress and care for himself. I'm a mother of 8 and I cannot go to sleep with a 6 year old running around in the house, more or less being outside or at a bus stop alone for that fact! Commending the child on loving school that much and not killing himself or anyone else with his little adventure. And for "Grand Theft Auto" I get on my GROWN boys about that game cannot see why a 6 year old boy has access to such a game. Goes to show society today, as long as the child is occupied doing whatever, they're straight. LET'S GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!!

Why was the mother held and the father released on bond? They are both the parents of this child.

Probably for the same reason the mother usually gets the alimony and child support from the divorced father...... This is the other side of that coin.

The article also says, he didn't want to miss breakfast (in school). In other words, his worthless parents can't even be bothered to feed him breakfast. But they apparently own video games out the wazoo (probably play them constantly, instead of paying attention to their kid). Those people should definitly be investigated. Maybe their child would be better off elsewhere...

A statement in the article jumped out at me, "He did not want to miss breakfast and PE." Breakfast? I guess I'm too old. I was never fed by the taxpayers while in school. I carried a bag, and bought my milk at lunch time. So I guess in addition to letting the kid get ready by himself, and letting him get himself to the bus stop, they didn't even have to get him breakfast at home.

Apparently now kids can get breakfast at school for half the price they pay for lunches. Tax money now pays for kid's whose parents are too busy to feed them breakfast before they leave the house. Absolutely ridiculous.

6 years old is way too young to be driving to sckool. We didn't allow our children to drive to sckool until they were 7.

OK, I have to say. Why arrest the Parents? For all I know my kid could do the same thing when I am in the shower or upstairs?! That doesnt make me a bad mother.

Nasty aren't you? Speak for yourself! Most school districts offer FREE Breakfast. Doesnt mean you are lazy or poor.

It isnt that fancy of a Breakfast, but ,it does help those who might be having a hardship, people do have those you know! Doesnt make a person bad because schools offer free Breakfast. Some people might not have food in their houses, some schools let the Homeless students shower in their PE Rooms, do you have an issue with that too? SAD IF YOU DO!

I know I'm piling on, but there is NO WAY this kid should've been playing a game like Grand Theft Auto. I've played the entire series. My wife and I are expecting and I'm selling the Xbox in favor of a Wii. There is a reason that Grand Theft Auto is rated mature.

These parents do need to be held accountable. How do you not have your kid up for school? How does your kid NOT know that it's okay to drive the family truckster?

I can understand mistakes made but......

I agree ! How did they know the kid was going to grab the keys ? And a kid can surely dress himself. He just throws on some pants and a shirt and shoes and jacket, and out he goes. I can't see how the parents can be held legally responsible for this...IMO

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Taurus

If you've been neglecting that special someone in your life over the past few days because you've been so busy with the festivities, try to make up for it today. Maybe you could have some time alone with them, or perhaps you simply need to remind them how much you love them. Don't be afraid to open up your heart to them, and to let them do the same to you.
