my understanding is that the mayor tried to alert the city council about 6 months prior that some of the things didn't look right, but no one seemed interested. everyone liked her and she hid it everything she was doing. apparently the mayor tried to alert the council but he lacked the evidence to do anything.
it is such a mess!
"lacked the evidence" is the key phrase. I heard the mayor might try and pull the "I tried to warn y'all" bit. Looks like is did. I don't think that is fair to the council members since he "lacked the evidence"!

I have to agree that if one falls, you have to fall with them. What's the old saying..."One for all and all for one". Does not have quite the meaning but when you point one finger at someone else, you point three back at yourself. Now with the report in the Dallas Morning News, we find that the $1.3 million, has grown very quickly to $1.9 million. Hearing some bad rumblings about the street that is going in as well. It is really a big mess. Someone really does need to step forward and take one for the Gipper on this one.

mearl, please do not misunderstand me. i was not trying to give the mayor (eventhough he is a friend) a pass on his share of the blame, nor am i trying to move blame on the city council members. i like them all and think they are trying to do good for our city. i think each one of them is working hard to make a better rc.
my point is that there were signs of the financial crisis, but it is sometimes hard to see it. it is much easier to look back and see the signs.

i heard someone asking what can we do to help.

i was informed today that the library had to lay off all but one employee. a library cannot run with only one employee! if you want to help, volunteer at the library. i am afraid it will not be able to stay open if it doesn't get a lot of volunteer help.

maybe there are other ways we can volunteer to help? maybe we can volunteer at the museum, the police station, city hall or at the parks. perhaps we can use this crisis to come together as a community!

the right thing for the mayor and the council to do is to assume the responsibility for this mess.
the particulars of how this happened are somewhat irrelevant, the mayor and council have the responsibility of oversight at city hall.

the voters should do the right thing and vote these folks out of office.....someone fell asleep at the very least

unfortunately, the voters don't always do the right thing

Does anyone know if the Criminal District Attorney for Rockwall County is investigating this so-called shortfall? I hear alot of people say there needs to be an investigation. I heard another say there is an investigation, but nobody seems to know who is investigating.??? This has to be investigated by someone above or outside the city itself. The city can't investigate itself, and if they try that, thats even more suspicious.

Daily Horoscope for December 2

Sagittarius

Your relationship with your partner comes into focus with the Gemini Full Moon; it's good to devote time to your best friend or mate under this fortunate phase. Try to be understanding of the pressure your loved ones may be under, but today is pretty fortunate for the Archer, as Jupiter your life-ruler is favored. Celebrate the love you have in your life, no matter what form it may take.
