Barrett first opposed the project by saying we didnt need more space. Now he says this doesnt solve the over crowding. Which one is it? What will his next reason be? He doesnt care about the school. This is all out of spite for getting kicked out of the corner office.

Barrett said he had 10 things he could do with that building.... What? Why hasn't he said anything in the last 4 years about other uses of that building? He lies so much no one believes anything he says now.

If this report finds we must increase reserves (which it does), how can we absorb 6 million (our cost), into our budget. As with the prop 2.5 debate, what will get cut?

You would absorb the 6 million amortised over a 20 year period--it's not a one shot absorbsion

Can anyone discern what State Rep Cariddi has to say about this huge issue in her hometown community?$23,000,000 from the state being invested for school children here. The anti-Conte people seem to believe she is on their side of the issue. The pro-Conte people seem to believe she is on their side of the issue. What are their assumptions based on? With her living in North Adams and representing us for the state, I was hopeful she could at least provide some insight that would assist those sitting on the fence with making an informed decision on this important issue. We hear from Mayors and councilors and committee members, and college presidents and school officials and architects and community members... Anything from Rep Cariddi?

She avoids controversy---and last I heard the Conte issue is quite controversial--she wants to please everyone and if she takes sides she will alienate a good percentage of her constituency

Your hair and sell it to wig manufacturers to pay for the tax increase--that you will eventually get--for repairs to Brayton and Greylock and ADA compliance----you can also cut your wrists and sell the blood to the Red Cross --if this is done on a monthly basis-- any tax increase will be covered--UNLESS you use the money on Scratch tickets

Are you kidding. The woman is without conviction. She's so afraid of JBIII that she still refuses to have the courage of her convictions and make a stand in favor of Conte.
Of course she's in favor of it. You just watch, the day after the vote, she'll be all smiles in the Yes Conte group, pretending that she was all along, for Conte.
Remember at one of the council meetings when she wanted more transparency, right after JBII got smoked in the mayor election.
For the preceeding 18 years she never muttered a peep about transparency.
She's a phony.

Scanlon's audit suggests ending the raiding of the reserves that was started by JBIII and continued after the override failed. Remember all that chatter about structural deficits? Those are the ones that Barrett created in '07 and '08.

As for the school, Brayton and Drury come off the tax rolls at the same time that this will go on. There should be no increase.

It's really telling that Barrett has been trying to work-over the state officials to try and get them to say that the money will still be there if North Adams rejects the borrowing order. Word has it that he has been trying get Cariddi to pull some strings at the statehouse to force the MSBA's hand, but our Representative has no juice to twist anybody's arm. Rumor has it that even Bosley has made some calls on John's behalf with no luck getting anybody to promise the money will still be there.

This is called backstabbing.

It speaks volumes to his real intentions - he's just trying to make Alcombright look bad - payback? Laying the groundwork for the next election? Delusional? This apparently has never been about education for JB.

as usual you are wrong on this--taxes will be raised----eventually-- and I don't mean by the usual 2 1/2 % or so a year--Alconbright is hedging his bets--and doesn;t want a tax spash before the election this year

How sad that all you can remember are how someone voted at a meeting four years ago. Gail Carridi has more courage then you secret squirrel who hides in your basement writting things on this site. How pathetic.

Rep. Gail Carridi has nothing but contempt for those that grace her presence. What is our State Rep's position on this issue? Have the puppet masters not given her a directive? She seems to have an interest in matters that could provide her with more fan fare, she'd go to the opening of an envelope. It's quite obvious that Gail Carridi will take credit for the Conte issue regardless of it's final outcome.

Running unopposed breeds contempt.
