You do not agree,so you accuse him of being
drunk. Perhaps because you don't have an answer to his criticism. He's right, take a look at the river in the middle of July, usually just a trickle.
But I AM drunk--and can out think all these polyannas that have the attitude- ooooooh this is change--- must be good--they never rebut--just try to shoot the messenger---you are living in an artista environment in North Adams of people who have no analytical ability and no common sense----CHANGE---that's terrific--try your underwear for a CHANGE

I would hope that the Hoosic River group did a study on the flow before... Lol! Really? They used quite a bit of cash from grants already. I'm thinking that it was looked into. Grants do not come easy.

To all of Clark's criticizers...He's spot on. During June, July and August, the ceement river can be a bike path...sheesh!

How about if we paint the chutes with camouflage colors and they will disappear, then no one will see them and we can save money by not doing a study

The best fly fishing is when the river is low, usually around 100cfs. The Deerfield is the same way, except that its flows are unnatural.
The Battenkill River, where Orvis is, is subject to the same natural flows as the Hoosic River. Do people not enjoy the Battenkill in July? The Hoosic is a better trout river than the Battenkill, so it's safe to think that the Hoosic can do for North Adams, what the Battenkill has done for Manchester.
Don't think for a minute that the Hoosic River can't be enjoyed just because it's at a low cfs.

That's just it. In some of the other rivers, they have converted the chutes to fishable waters.

Obviously you know very little about river restoration and what it can do for a local economy.

You have implied that a restored Hoosic will do for Norh Adams what the Battenkill did for Manchester Vt. Is that your true take on this issue--if so you are a moron

That's a general statement. Please give examples of what a river,.that needs to be chuted, can do for an economy. Maybe you don't realize that North A adams is surrounded by.mountains. North Adams is the low point. All the water that flows from the mountains comes down here. without the chutes, the downtown could be devastated as it was in the '40s.

Ok for your sarcasm--so should I have to explain it-- I guess I do for nitwits==royal coachmen (the name of a famous fly fishing fly) thinks that by reviving the Hoosic flood chutes it will attract the businesses that Manchester VT has--he is an idiot----if there were a market for outlet stores by major upscale retailers they would be here already and esconced in the Sprague complex---Manchester is indeed a shopping destination but it was a summer fall and winter destination even before the shops==can you imagine a Brooks Brothers out let in North Adams?????--the Hoosic will never be a destination---and never will be a draw for business----oh yes lets have a Ralph Lauren and a Liz Claiborne on River Street --or as I prefer to call it Trickle St.---he may be correct in his assertion that the Hoosic is a better trout stream than the Battenkill or the Deerfield--but I don't see flocks of anglers using the usable parts---- OK let's put my waders on and carry my Orvis rod and reel down into the trickle of June July and August----INSANITY---- subscribing to the theory -Build It and they will Come----just no grounding in economics and reality

sentence structure?? this is a blog not a dissertation----why don't you go down and dunk your azzz in the Hoosuck River trickle--you are clearly one of North Adams finest morons
Those involved with the Hoosac River revitalization project fully recognize the need to raise the water level through re-channeling the river. Indeed, that effort is critical. No one wants to look at, or would be attracted to, a mere trickle of water. Yet, when considering the successes that other cities have had, including Providence, this idea is not fanciful. Imagine a river that courses through North Adams that not only is a beautiful water feature, but also allows for fishing, rafting, and recreation. No one has any illusions about how difficult this will be, but that's not reason enough not to try.
