JB3's account surpluses were a result of a lot more State aid than the City gets now!

i thought i was clear about not being interested in the political aspect, but i guess not. every mayor has the very same job, although some might differ slightly.for instance... given the variety of natural disasters a city may incur, the city funds will be allotted accordingly.
what i meant to relay is how the mayor is perceived by the general public. aside all the political guru stuff, i really think this makes a huge difference. who wants a mayor that is snub-nosed such as alcombright? does he really think he is better than anyone else on this very earth? does he really care about me/you? does he show this?
there is so many questions you could ask pertaining to the public-eye side of this, there is way to many to list, granted, just because they are nice people surely doesnt mean they can run a city(i'll make that clear).
i couldnt tell you how many times i would see barrett running to all the city sites(construction or what have you) and making sure everything was going as planned. i can also tell you that i have heard him telling the lazy workers get their (you know what) moving. i think this really makes so much a sight to see, it truly lets me know he is doing his job. he is a "boss" after all.
now it comes to alcombright? where is he? do you ever see him inspecting city sites(construction or what have you)? sometimes i wonder if he is even in the city at all. i never see him do anything, and i surely never hear him say hi.
my short definition of public-eye, as i care not of politics. its a job and anyone that holds the seat will likely be doing the very same things(with slight exceptions of course).
maybe you should be asking will alcombright be toppled by yet another mayor that will actually do all these things, such as mayor barrett had done.
Thank you Tommy L.

so we can assume you were in the office every day of the week? such a childish response it barely requires anyone to acknowledge.
if you are so anti-barrett, what is to worry? he will never run again.
if i didnt see it with my own eyes, and hear it with my own ears, i would have nothing to say. i'll say it again, i never see alcombright out in the public view, and i certainly never see him smile.
why the rage against barrett? did you know him personally or did you just know him as "the mayor"? if you would like, i am sure someone with more informational resources can let you know about the budget information while barrett was in.
if you like alcombright so much, maybe you can contribute something useful such as information pertaining to his performance as mayor. is there anything that shows alcombright is more suited to hold the seat than someone else?
facts are facts, opinions are opinions, maybe you should start there. not everyone has the same perspective and surely not the same experiences. we have enough flame threads, no need to add to the fire.
Knew him pre-mayor and during his rule. He is/was nothing but an arrogant coward and bully. Just ask his bookies.

Did someone suggest that John was more involved in the community than Alcombright?

Maybe if you hung out at XtraMart.

mayor barrett has aleady said (in person, in so many words) he was through with it. he did what he did and now its time to relax. he also said he was happy with the time he spent with north adams. he would have only went on if he had been re-elected and it wasnt a political thing, it was a personal decision to say enough is enough. he made his mark in the history books, and that is fine.

(dont quote me on the exact words, this is merely what i understood his words to be)

not being at all interested in politics myself, i will say i did like mr barrett. maybe to some seen his as cold and harsh, but inside he knew he was doing the right thing. thats a personal view, nothing at all to do with politics whatsoever.

he had always been out in the open and very vocal about his opinions/ideas. as for alcombright, i really dont see this in him at all. he snubbs his nose up at you and walks with as if he has blinders on. i dont see that as very good public relations. even for citizens, a good public eye is sure to get you more votes in the next election.

i push aside all the politics for one main reason, that is... its like buying a candy bar at the store, you can get good service or bad service, yet you still walk away with the very same candy bar and the clerk. i am sure the is much more to being mayor... absolutely sure.

they all have the same job, no matter who sits the chair and how they go about it is another, so long as the job is done, with that being something mayor barrett did very well, he got things done.

well thats my 2 cents on the matter.
Oh God kill me!!! You do know he lies Right?!?!?

Last year Barrett and Harpin voted against giving DPW workers a 14 cent raise. Last night Barrett and Harpin argued the reserve officers need a raise because their pay is low. Barrett had 26 years to raise the reserve officers pay to a respectible level. Alcombright already said the reserve officers will get a raise next fiscal year. Councilor Breen made a good point the reserve officers get a substantial raise when they become an officer. Harpin doesnt say a word and follows Barrett like a lost puppy.
