The concept is great, but Lou Matney not so great. He has the financial backing of the building owner which helps. It's a big venture for a guy who ran a hot dog stand. Good luck

High end and N.A. in the same sentence? Will they be taking EBT?

How can you support it if you aren't here to buy from him? From what I've heard this guy can't keep a hot dog stand running.
Of course they'll accept EBT, it's "revenue".

The hot dog business was a joke. I'll go to the convenience store and buy my cold cuts at a much cheaper price. Boar head products to boot.

Any new business is good but hearing about some of Matney's history being a resident here all my life, I can see the financial backer getting screwed somehow. Even in the article they quote Jr. as saying they are financing all and he promises to repay. Owner of complex must be desperate to fill store front so they're going along with this. Hope it works for all involved but if history repeats, they're doomed.

History always repeats itself.

They will not be allowed to serve wine on the deli side, only at wine tastings in the liquor store part and it will be limited in time

How long before the "high end" establishment becomes a lotto parlor full of stinky old geezers and bleach blond hags? That's the only economically feasible plan that will work in North Adams. I hope they at least enforce the no-smoking zone within 75 feet of the front door.

As long as you stay away, it will do just fine.

...sure they're trying: with another person's money!!!!!!!!!It's easy to do things when you are not the one risking your financial neck.
Question is: how did they convince the givers to back the project?
