What are the effects of a declining population? Seems it goes down 1-2 % a year. That can't be good for the city of North Adams.
One more thing -- Is MCLA a real college?

It goes down because the yuppie arts community has made it clear that "real people" are not welcome in the new Utopia--raise taxes--spend spend spend

Are people leaving in droves because of Praxis33 and Heller's war?

Will this war continue on into 2014?

2015?

How many people will be left in North Adams if this is ever over?

Between 1980-2005 North Adams population dropped 30%. From 2000-2010 the population dropped 7%. The decrease has slowed, but is still declining like most Western Massachusetts cities and towns. That's why we lost a congressman.

MCLA is now a university. http://www.mcla.edu/news_events/inthenews/sta...

I was opposed to the name change from NASC to MCLA-hwever I did float the idea of changing the name to Hoosuck University--keeps it tied locally- but more importantly the college could have made a fortune selling caps- Tees- sweashirts emblazoned with
HOOSUCK U

--truck them to spring break hotspots- such as Fort Lauderdale-- Myrtle Beach--North Padre Island--would sell like hotcakes

No (good) jobs. That's why we left. Also, many of our friends left because they preferred the schools in nearby towns.

How many people will move out of North Adams this year? Tulia lists 150+ homes and businesses for sale.

If as you say there is nothing around here, there must be enormous opportunities for the young and ambitious. Or maybe you're really not that ambitious.

What kind of jobs can young college grads get around here? I've lived here my entire life and I believe I've been rather successful, however I've commuted in order to make a living. The population continues to drop because our children can't find decent jobs here. I see no sincere effort to bring good jobs to the area.
