This must be the close connections the Mayor was taking about in his recent radio interview. Its amazing that even in the worse economic times , boston politicans can find money to spend in an election year. What took so long?
We will gladly accept it, now if they could only restore all our state aid funds!

Of course, Adams out of the loop again. Great job lobbying our reps, board of selectmen. How many personal calls and trips have you made to Boston or to our reps promoting town needs? None you say? Not a surprise. But...of course....it's time to now complain about not getting our fair share, despite the fact that you have done next to nothing to ask for the money or promote the town needs. And stop pointing to Donna Cesan, she is one person. It's time to start networking and getting on the phone yourself...that's what you were elected to do. "Act" in the best interests of the town. While you've been on "summer hiatus" (no workshop meetings) other local communities have been eating your lunch. Why is North Adams getting all this money, Lenox...Pittsfield with all their construction? Because they actually demonstrate need and ask for it. Adams sits back and just expects it to rain money from Boston, and complains like crazy when it doesn't get it (blames Boston). Time to look at our practices folks. We are the third largest community in Berkshire County. We should be getting our fair share.

Notice how it all is supposed to create jobs. How much per job? How many jobs are they destroying by taxing people to death. If they want to stimulate the economy, then cut tax rates and let people keep and spend their own money. That would be a bigger stimulus to the economy and it would happen immediately.

I think the infrastructure work is important and should be done, and that's the only justification it needs.

John Barrett perosnally called President Obama, Senator Reid and Speaker Pelosi and used his immeasurable clout to bring this small fortune of asphalt to North Adams. Barrett is a God.

Actually, the money would have flowed even if he hadn't done a thing.

On the other hand, I've had two staffers from our congressional delegation ask me variations on the same question - "Why do you keep electing that ***hole?"

Barrett is neither liked or respected in Boston or DC. Don't let his efforts to take the credit for the sun coming up in the morning fool you.

Man are you some sort of a jerkweed---if the Barrett administration had not applied for the funding it would not have been forthcoming----he can take credit for this one---although surely there were others involved---sorry about the sun not coming up-- at least not gleaming through the cludy- rainy skies of NA---he just doesn;t have that much juice-- but no I would not be surprised for you to claim that Alcombright parted the cloudy skies--what a maroon- chbpod

So this money being spent on road repair will motivate people? I wonder if it will motivate the welfare rats in the Ashland St. high rise to get a job when they see men working in the road?

Barrett is certainly despised in Boston. If it weren't for Dan and Ben, there wouldn't be a penny of state help beyond what is required by law coming our way.(And you know it.)

What did the state supt. of schools recently say about Lumpy and his caterwauling for stimulus money? Oh yeah.... it wasn't very nice. And we got ZERO of the chapter 70 based stimulus funds. ZERO.

Nice try Clarkie. Maybe if you did more than show up for council meetings over the past couple of decades you would have learned something.

If having connections with Boston political leaders
has you talking trash like this, maybe we don't need those kind of friends.

Mayor Barrett is still doing the same good job he was elected to do over twenty years ago.

Councilor Alcombright may be as nice as pie, but he doesn't have a clue how to run North Adams.

One run-through in these forums is enough to convince even the casual observer that Alcombright either likes the crazies being on his side or just doesn't have the backbone to publicly reject them. Either way, the nutjobs are clearly all with Alcombright.

i just read the forums and the pro alcombright people are responding to false and untrue statements made without facts by pro barrett people like you.
the key point you made was "over 20 years ago"
everyone has the right to express their opinion, so don't try to quiet the voice of the people.

There seems to theme in your and other pro incumbent mayor postings, name calling. I may not like you views and you may not like mine but we have a right to both have them. There is no need for you and C. B. to resort to name calling. As a voter in the city i do not like being refered to as a nutjob, i was undecided but not anymore!

You are really doing a disservice to your candidate with statements like this. You accuse Alcombright of having "crazies" as supporters - well, I'd rather be grouped with the crazies than with people who are just grown up versions of the school yard bully.

The only thing that is clear is that you haven't spoken with most of the small business owners in North Adams.

I doubt they would like you calling them "nutjobs."
