Woman Identified In Weekend Murder

Authorities have identified the woman murdered Sunday in Covington County. Investigators say Veronica Martinez was shot multiple times. via WTVY Dothan

VERONICA MARTINEZ WAS MY MOM. SHE WAS TO COME AND VISIT ME SOMETIME SOON. NOW SHE IS GONE AND ME AND MY FAMILY WONT BE SEEING HER. THIS IS A HORRIBLE SHOOTING. TOOK OUR MOMS LIFE. TODD SHOT HER REPEATEDLY WITHOUT THINKING TO STOP SHOOTING AFTER THE FIRST ROUND WENT OFF. MULTIPLE SHOTS TO THE HEAD AND TORSO. WE ARE IN SHOCK, APPALLED THAT HE IS OUT ON BAIL. WHY DID THE JUDGE ALLOW THIS??? HE SNUFFS OUT A LIFE AND HE IS OUT ON BAIL. THERE SHOULD OF BEEN NO BAIL NO DOUBT ABOUT THIS.

That is very true about the OPD. I can't even get started on how rediculous the justice system is. I found out is is even worse is these small towns. I think it is also very odd how my town of kinston doesnt even have proper police officers on hand.

I have never been one for getting in trouble and have always been friends with the law..but when I needed them to help me...by just telling the truth, they were no where to be found. I did what I was suppose to but the police did not record it. So I got in trouble and out of a dozen of officers, only one was there for me. They are nothing but horny old men that are trying to be with the young girls. I use to think of them as some of my best friends, but now I avoid them when possible. Who are we suppose to trust?

Have not been able to find what the out come has been for Todd. We would like to know if he get's the death Pl. we were all shocked to hear of this, her friends in NC. told her not to go with him.

I am another daughter of Veronica and live in CT. Todd will not be facing the death penalty according to Alabama state statutes. We all find this very hard to beleive. He is still out of jail and will not face the grand jury until Sept. yet another hardship for our family. We are all hoping to get some closure. Our family appreciates everyones thoughts and prayers.

Veronica is my mother also and it is very hard to beleive anything that's happened.It's been 4 long months now and he's still doing his own thing?Well, I know he's changed alot of peoples lifes.Hopefully soon there will be closure for all who knew her.

I am also so sorry about your mom. I just happen on this sight and these people are right. You don't have to call the OPP just call the B & B Steakhouse or the old Mr. Henry's( now known as A.W. Herron?) morning noon and night or ride by there it is so sad. We do have some good Police here but few.

Looking for followup in the death of my sister Veronica Martinez Story was in paper beween March 31st, and April 2nd of 2008. I cannot fine out any news about her killer Harold Elton Todd. on Sept. 16,2008, according to THE STAR NEWS,"Harold E. Todd, 66,on a grand jury indictment for charges of murder and first-degree domestic violence.He was held on a $1.5 million bond."So, I'm asumming he is in jail still, but you never know,he may have made bail again?
