I don't think it's a good idea, it would put the city in a high liability risk. One of these gun loving nut jobs kill an innocent person by mistake or just because they are not their same skin color and they'll be suing the city.

Why not let George Zimmerman run it. He's the only one that understands how to clean up an area.

George Zimmerman the murderer of Trayvon Martin? He shot Martin because he was black and felt that he didn't belong in that gated community? Is that the Zimmerman that you are referring to?

George Zimmerman is exactly the example of moronic mentality that I don't him walking about with a gun. He might have been given the duty to patrol the streets but he had no right to kill anyone. If he would not have been allowed to have his gun, he would have just called the police and let them take care of Martin. Martin was found innocent of doing anything criminal on that night and was killed by an idiot with a gun.

go away and don't come back til you have grown a brain or have somebody with logical sense with you. Alea Iacta Est, latin for the die has been set, I guess it kind of means being halfway past the point of no return, might refer to your stupidity.

Last thing Hazleton needs is some wannabe security superstar with a "Tackleberry" mental IQ patrolling the streets.

I grew up and still live around the Alter street area. The amount of drugs and scumbags walking around is unbelievable. They deal thier drugs right out in the open and dont care who sees.
Something has to be done, the system we have now isn't working.

I believe the community has to get involved as a whole, only a few do and the rest don't care. I know city police are strained out, so state police should be more involved. I've seen these crime watch volunteers walk around with these flouescent vests and attenetion getting stuff on them that a criminal can tell who they are from afar and go into hiding, that's just as bad as them seeing a marked police car coming down the street. Residents should be active without getting confrontational or their lives in danger. Start taking pictires and video footage of criminals in action, drug dealers and buyers, take down license plate numbers if possible, and give to police. Many residents call police, and just watch from behind a window curtain and see police arrive and nothing happens. If dealers can not be scared away then the buyers should be scared away. That's a way to start getting the community back

Right...that worked so well in places like Detroit, Camden, Newark and countless other cities where these lovely residents took over. BTW, Trayvon got what he deserved. A little ghetto rat that wanted to be all gangsta and picked a fight with the wrong person. Wait for the trial, Zimmerman will be cleared on grounds of self defense.

I doubt it, Zimmerman was advised to wait for police but he acted on his own. Trayvor was stayng in that community at his father's girlfriend's house to begin with. Article states also that Zimmerman was fed up with all the crime going on and was angered because they were getting away with it (which I agree) but Zimmerman took the law upon his own hands and acted alone. Me being a long haul trucker, I've been to those cities you mentioned above, the reason they are the way they are is because residents didn't work hard enough and majority just moved away, which is indicated by many empty and abandoned houses.

I should have moved to Hazy. I know I could have been with a white girl like Alicia Weaver, that could have made me money. We often meet up at social events in purgatory. Man can she suck.

Glad to see someone step up to the plate instead of crying about the problems! The answer is not to move away its to take a stand & let them know we will not tolerate the gangs & drugs that have brought the city to its knees! I also agree there should be an evaluation b4 having an armed patrol. The city cries for help finantially & volunteers step up & get critisized?! Gangs work in numbers....citizens should do the same!

Too bad the majority of the population are the criminals. If the residents took a proactive stance and refused to rent or sell to these scum bags 12 years ago, this would not be an issue today. And as soon as a person does get shot, this whole thing will just be another failed idea. I'd like to know where are all the liberal do-gooder's that stopped Barletta from trying to stop this years ago now???.

Today a suspicious vehicle parks in my neighborhood, just pulls up and passenger gets out and opens hood, he's wearing sunglasses and sweatshirt hoodie over his head. My neighbor calls me and makes me aware of what is going on, but I'm already vigilant of them. I took a picture of the vehicle with clear view of license plate, and a picture of him looking at properties. I go out on my backyard and pretend I'm doing something but I didn't say a thing to them, at same time my neighbor steps out of his house and lights up a cigarette and watches them while talking to me. Passenger of vehicle pulls out his cell phone and a few words later he closes hood, gets into the vehicle and leaves. I called police and they just make a record of it since no incient happened.

I don't understand how you see this as self defense when Zimmerman is the one that made the situation worst by confronting Martin. And just because Martin had prior run-ins with the law does not make him guilty of the situation. How can you be blind to the obvious.

WOW!!! A regular Dick Tracy here....bet you scared them.....

Oh, by the way, how did George Zimmerman get cut's on the back of his head if he was not attacked from the front and pushed back? If you're gonna shoot a person, you don't start a wrestling match.

well, first of all, the last of my worries is whether you believe the story or not. But do believe this; me and my neighbors do watch out for each other, we especially do it because of the children. This is not a first incident, in the next block down from mine there's a vacant house that has been a break-in target since last summer. Neighbors are always watching it, back in January the police was there about 7 times. In February about 2. My neighbors get involved, the police come and some are always there to talk to them, we don't allow the vicinity to deteriorate. Me stepping out when this vehicle was out there was not to scare them or say anything to them. It was just so they know someone is always around, that's all. When my neighbor came out for a smoke and talk to me that's when they left. Point of story is we didn't need to be carrying firearms or confront them. As far as Zimmerman's injuries, it was a fight that he started, somehow the article says the black man was on top beating him and George was screaming for help which means he lost control of the fight that he started. Now I'm sure you had your fights as well as I have, especially when I've been on top of the other guy or I've been on recieving end of them. It's easy to slam the head of the other guy on the ground causing injuries to the back of the head. We can go on and on back and forth jabbing at each other's posts. I do believe that you think that if a person is not white then he or she is not right.
