Racheal Riester, 33, of Washington, was sentenced Aug. 30 in Daviess County Superior Court in the 2011 hit-and-run death of 17-year-old Rhett Smith.
Miss Harley, you are making it sound like she intentionally ran the poor guy over. I agree that she received a light sentence, but mostly because she didn't stop and lied about driving. I don't know Riester, do you? That prosecutor sure dropped a bunch of charges against her didn't he?
I don't know the woman, but I agree with Harley. She was drunk, high , she ran, she lied and got others to lie for her.In Ind she will only serve about a year and a half of this sentence. Not nearly enough time for taking a life. This was a young man just starting life. Intentional or not he is dead and she will walk the streets again.soon.
