Does anyone know if this rumor is true! I just heard that the new Foodtown that was started in the Staples shopping center in Hazlet is now supposed to be a Shop-Rite because they ran out of $$$$

My son told me this from someone he works with at Shop-rite. Supposidly the "Old Shop-rite in Hazlet" on Hwy 36 is going there he said. I hope it's not true. I hope it will still be a Foodtown

The old shoprite on 36 is a disaster and run down. A new one is needed. I heard way back last year that Shoprite was considering taking over the Stop & Shop in Keyport. Maybe Foodtown can go there.

If my memory is correct, the Stop & Shop location used to be a Foodtown.

Apparently, Foodtown has begun paying rent next to Staples, so the store should be opening very soon. No sense paying out money on something that has no income, as yet.

Bethany Liquor is moving from Bethany Rd and opening on the side of Staples . Hope they get the other developer ( food town shop rite moving that shoping center is a bit of a eye sore.

I hope they don't close the Shop Rite on 36. It may be a bit old & run down, but it's the cheapest supermarket in the area other than Aldi's.
