Heck Hazlehurst is to cheap to spend money on fireworks,Baxley has them and their real nice so sad that our town can't do anything for our children to remember, they did it one time and never did it again, then everyone want's to know why our children find other things to get into, and some get in trouble, nothing for the youth,no jobs etc......Welcome to Hazlehurst,Ga.

For your own good, realize the cops will be out on patrol and holding road blocks checking for drunk drivers, license, registration, insurance, seatbelts in use, and tag checks. I bet they'll be setting up road blocks out 221 North near the river and out near Lake Mayers!!!

I would not let my kids get in the water there at Lake Mayers, I heard that someone went to the ER here in Hazlehurst and a Dr. stated that there have been several kids that got some type of sickness/bacteria from the water, has anyone else heard this?

Im haven't heard anything about the lake this year but last year they shut it down for awhile because of contamination. Maybe it has returned.....hmmmm. None the less thanks for the heads up! Look like I will not be taking the children there to swim again this year.

I'm sick & tired of hearing this whining about nobody ever does anything in Hazlehurst. Just a couple weeks ago they had a kids carnival & a magician at the old football field during the catfish tournament. There was also music for the adults as well as several vendors set up selling food, etc. The night before, there was a catfish fry. Very few people showed up to participate. Lots of you complain that Hazlehurst never does anything, but when there is a local event, very few come out to participate.

My cousin took her little girl to the ER for a bad break out rash. The first thing he asked her if she had been swimming there. She had not been there only in a pool. He told her that there have been several that came down with something form Mayers here recently.

AMEN to you Ole Timer
There used to be a fireworks show at our fairgrounds. The Chamber asked for donations and set out a can to help continue these each year. People would park outside the fence rather than put a dollar in the can. You all want activities but think they should be free. The free days are gone so pay up! or shut up! We are all in this town together and if everyone would participate we could have lots of activities. If Hazlehurst is such a rotten place, please feel free to move.

For further information, a fifteen minute fireworks show cost in the neighborhood of $5000 the last time we checked. How bad do you want one in Hazlehurst? Get out and collect some money and get with the Chamber, they'll set it up and advertise the event for you.

If you'd keep your a** out of the water then no one would have to worry about catching skankola!

I heard she bathed in your tub and ended up with skankola!
