taxpayers paying for deputies part time job

What's up with the taxpayers having to foot the bill for the deputies sitting in their COUNTY PAID FOR car and GAS at the Altamaha Technical College. The tax payers pay for the car and the gas, but the deputy gets paid by the school to sit there for 8 hours wasting our gas??????? If they want to play security and get paid for it, why can't they sit in the own personal vehicle using their own personal gas. I'd bet they wouldn't sit out there in their own vehicle burning their own gas putting the wear and tear on'em.

Where did you see this? I have never heard of this. Are you sure that ATC has not contracted with the county. Also, ATC is in the county and maybe the deputy was patrolling the area.

I saw this at ATC. Ride by ATC any day and you will see a sheriff vehicle in front of the building every day. call the commissioners office to see if they contracted with the county, don't just take it from me. i'm not saying the sheriff didn't approve them to go work there, but I doubt that the school is giving any money to the county. so the taxpayer is paying for the gas and car that is sitting there everyday.

I disagree, If the statements are true. Then Yes I would love to know if we as tax payers are being compensated for any costs involved.

We getting paid... Mind your own Business.. And Yes we drive our cars... Hell gas is too high to put in my Truck...LOL.... And Yes the School pays us seperately.. Now run down there and pay your Taxes.. I'm about out of Gas... Any More Questions?????

Grow up people. This is so crazy. You sound like a group of little children. There not wasting gas by just setting there. But before you say any thing I know they drove there and back. And yes that cost. But they need these cars with them they don't have time to run home or run to the Sheriff department if they need to call out back up officer. Their here to serve and protect. And I do think these officer do a great job. No I'm not a officer but I have had dealing with them and I salute all of them.

Let's get this straight once and for all--the deputies volunteer on their day off. Their schedule is posted at the Sheriff's office and is public knowledge. The deputy at ATC is paid for his time at ATC by the school, NOT the taxpayers. The cars are NOT sitting idling, therefore no gas is being wasted. Anyone who cares to check these facts is welcome to do so. I am a student at ATC and personally asked the deputy the answers to these questions. This is all a matter of public knowledge, IF you take the time to check before spouting off with unfounded "facts".'Nuff said, so please let this be the end of it.

Sorry to be the one to bring this back up. But it is a FACT a deputy has been caught turning in hours worked at both the tech school and the sheriff office. It was on the same day and time for both places. He worked at the school and not the sheriff office. I believe that is a FELONY when he turned in hours he did not work at the sheriff office. Lets see whats "a matter of public knowledge " in this case. I hope they do a thorough investigation and get facts on how this happen and prosecute all involved.

This is no worse than a Supervisor turning in over time that the Deputy's do not work.. One Deputy that I know for sure only works 40 hours per week. They are on a two week Shedule. But this certain deputy receives 96 to 100 in this two week pay period.This is approximately 20 hours of OVERTIME folks. Thats alot of Money. This is stealing.. THIS IS STEALING from the tax payers.. But His Bosses are allowing this to go on.. This is not a rumor, This can and will be proved.. At a Later date..

I agree 100%. If they prosecute the girl at the 911 center then they have to prosecute the Deputy.

The report was received by the Commissioners on Monday July 9th. District Attorney's Office along with FBI and Attorney General have copies of the letter in hand and are investigating. Copy of letter coming to a newspaper and shopper near you soon. And yes from earlier post three deputies were falsifying time sheets getting paid by county (Taxpayers) while also getting paid by Altamaha Tech. As well as documenting on County Time Sheets that they were working when they were not. I sure dont understand how you can put article in paper with words like Honest,Fair,Experienced, when your actually the ring leader and approved all this to go on and falsified timesheets yourself.

When is any proof coming out?

If a deputy is on call outside his regular hours, then I could see him getting paid a per-diem, because he or she is not free to go outside of the county. Also, if at a meeting out of town, the debuty is on their own time then they are free to do what ever out side of their meeting time. Again, don't know the situation. Why do you have to have a deputy at the Tec school.

Another way for you same old people to run prople down, just take a few minutes and go to georgia code section and read 16-11-40, this is the crime your commiting against these people. I encourage everyone to call the county attorney and the district attorney's office they have already been asked to look at this and they both have stated that no law has been broken. If you have any question of the deputies working the school and the hours, call the sheriff he was the one that agreed to do this for the school and asked the deputies to work it. The sheriff authorized for them do work it and the times for them to work. Just call him and ask i already have and that is what i was told from the horses mouth. And by the way the FBI work cases where a federal law has been violated. Look at the source where the slander is coming from. Have been trouble makers in this town for years and they are just still spewing from the mouth trying to cause trouble. Again look at the source where the information is coming from , it will speak volumes.

You are absolutely correct its no worse. So bring your proof of this accusation or shut up. We have our proof. Its very obvious that your trying to divert the attention away from the FACTS. But the people in this county will know the truth no matter how much you try to cover it up.
