Does anybody know who is on the Jeff Davis Homecoming court this year?

I haven't heard yet but, I know we are having a
Homecoming Parade. How long has it been since one of those? It may not be a big one because the softball team has a game that day I think. It is a big step in the right direction for bringing the spirit of Football back to Jeff Davis. Thanks

This is affirmative action manifesting itself right here in Jeff Davis county.

The racial makeup of JD high is mostly white. I would guess; 80% white, 15% black, 5% other(mexican/asian). However, I know that the mexican population is growing exponentially .

Therefore, just going by the law of averages, it's only logical that the three girls picked would be white.

Most of the girls want to do it, it's not like they're forced to be on the homecoming court, it's kind of an honor or something I guess.

The whole white/black vote thing was actually implemented to help the white kids. See, if it's 5 white girls versus 1 black girl, the white vote will be split 5 ways, but the black vote will all go to one girl, who also gets some white votes as well. The started doing it this way after a black girl won several years in a row and some whites complained. Do I agree with it, no, but that's how it goes.

And the kids in high school enjoy the homecoming court, who cares what you all think about it, let them enjoy it. You all had your time in high school.....quite a few of you had an extended stay I'd imagine.

i dont think they vote by race anymore. Iknow there is a mexican girl that always gets voted in that is going to be on court this year. She is a pretty girl.

My sons told me they always reminded the kids to vote for someone pretty on the inside first then pretty on the outside. In other words vote for someone that has a good heart and then someone nice looking. From the ones they have choosen over the last five years that I knew they seem like nice girls. Also, if it is the Hispanic girl I believe you are talking about dingding she does have a good heart and she is pretty.
