the accident should not have happened. there are too many unsafe truckers on the highways. most big truck accidents can be prevented according to the Federal Motor Carrier Saftey Administration. anyone who lives near interstate 40 in arkansas ever notice that the speed limit for big trucks on the interstate is only 65mph, and you also might notice that most of the big trucks are traveling much faster than 65mph (fed ex ground is one example)? we need more enforcement on interstate 40 for big trucks. there is no reason for any big truck traveling above the posted speed limit. truck drivers are supposed to be considered professional drivers. speed laws are for saftey. if the arkansas state troopers would get out there and patrol more often, they could catch several big trucks speeding, write speeding tickets, its an every minute ongoing thing. those guys driving the big trucks know they should not be speeding, they should also know that speeding in a big truck is a saftey hazard to the motoring public.

Where does it say anything about the truck going over the speed limit?

Were you there? Did you see it happen? Did you clock his speed just before he ran off the road and died? The fact is that there is a family right now grieving the loss of their loved on and all you can do is get on this site and start bashing him. SHAME ON YOU! If you want more Troopers on the road then make a friggin donation to the State Highway Patrol Foundation. Otherwise, shut the fuck up....go work on improving your spelling and grammar.

oh i forgot to mention, i was traveling through that area one time and saw where a fed ex ground truck was tailgating a werner truck in a one lane construction zone, something happened that werner had to come to a complete stop, with fed ex on his butt(werner trailer), fed ex rear ended the werner trailer, causing the people in the car behind fed ex ground to get caught in the middle of the two jacknife fed ex ground trailers, killed four people in that car. if fed ex ground would have obeyed traffic laws, those four people in that car could still be living today, maybe getting to spend this years easter weekend with their loved ones. that accident happened at the 206 mile marker on interstate 40 in arkansas. now mr smart ass anything else you want to get huffy with me about just because you do not favor my opinions about unsafe truckers?

yes your right, there are goveners on semi trucks but not all of them. the big trucks that do not have govenors are the ones speeding, several of them, every second of the day. again have you not noticed that the posted speed limit for big trucks on the interstate highways in arkansas is 65mph, and the speed limit for cars is 70mph? so if the big trucks would follow the law how could the cars get in thier way if the cars are allowed to travel faster? ummm, got me on that one. unless maybe the big truck was SPEEDING, would that be the reason that the cars are getting in their way?

Sounds like someone wants governors on all trucks. They are an Obama supporter, so obviously they like big government dictating all aspects of everyday life. What about cars? Are they immune from all speed limits? Perhaps it was the involved car who was at fault? Not always the trucks fault! Facts before accusations...just sayin'!

Governors on Trucks, governors on cars, governors on ATV's...2 sides to this story. The "Thugs" will remove their governors from their vehicle and the innocent victim will not be able to outrun the thug. NOT A BRIKLLIANT IDEA. Kinda like, take the guns from the people and the innocent people will have no guns to protect themselves from the thugs that still illegally have guns.
We just all have to deal with it and live the best we can together. If everyone would follow the laws then this discussion would be moot in the first place.

I was in the first car the truck went by before running the car behind us off the road and running us off to the side and watching as the truck hit the other one and started blowing up! It was the most horrible thing I have ever seen. The rush of the truck going by our car and missing us by 2 to 3 feet was like having my life go by in a rush! We didn't even see anyone in the cab of the truck. It was so scary!

there is no reason for big trucks to be speeding (a saftey hazard to the motoring public). we need governors on big trucks, electronic onboard recorders, 11 hour legal work days, more DOT inspections, more DOT audits, and more DOT highway enforcement. most big truck vs car accidents are the fault of the truck driver per the National Transportation Saftey Board. on average there are aprox 5000 american citizens killed by big trucks every year due to unsafe truckers.

what really is wrong with u ...noones arguing with u so u wait a couple days then try and start it up again ...u obviously do not have anyone in your family who is a truck driver or are friends with them they are now doing csa 2010 keeping track of your hours u can go 14 on duty and are forced breaks if it wasnt for these hard working men and women u would not have food or clothes there brought in by trucks please let it die down now u are just looking argumentitive

sorry sweetie, im not going to kiss any unsafe truck driver's ass. what i will do if i observe unsafe driving behavior, i will report it to the state highway patrol, also i will report it (unsafe driving) to the trucking company (along with tractor and trailer number) when the CSA2010 rule gets kicked into full enforcement this july 2011, the food on my table and the clothes i wear will be delivered at my local retail store by safe and professional truckers, instead of a bunch of unsafe crakerjacks.

another thing that sorta burns my ass is: the state of arkansas just like other states could use some revenue for the state budget im sure. if the arkansas highway patrol would just get out there and patrol, maybe choose a good hiding spot next to the interstate so the truckers could not spot them, they could catch several big trucks speeding, that money could go to the state for a contribution of budget shortfalls.

I saw the whole thing I was behind the truck that hit the other truck. As for the truck that caused the accident blowing by it was an estes and they are governed. My truck will do 67mph and there trucks are slower than mine. I'm not sure what made him cross the median but he ran into the path of another truck goin east bound and that truck could not have avoided hitting him. As for safe drivers there are just as many unsafe car drivers as truck drivers so don't point the finger at one if you can't see both sides. If I see unsafe cars I'll report them just the same as a truck. And just for the record yes I'm a truck driver and you have no idea the stress we have to deal with on a day to day basis so until you walk a mile in my shoes I don't give much credit to your opion.

you are very incorrect. there are not near as many unsafe car drivers compared to unsafe cdl drivers. there are too many accidents caused by unsafe truck drivers. they speed, tailgate cars, drive too fast for conditions (rain, snow, or icy weather). i dont care how stressful your job is, you should be safe. just because the job is stressfull, thats no justification for unsafe driving behavior!

we need unsafe truckers and unsafe trucking companies off our nations highways! CSA2010 along with the the current high fuel prices will help us achieve this goal which is: MAKE OUR HIGHWAYS SAFE! i have noticed that fuel prices in west memphis, ar have hit 4.07 per gallon. i hope the fuel prices continue to climb, less unsafe trucking companies on our highways (the outlaw type, the ones most likely that will not be able to afford fuel much longer, also the ones causing the accidents, killing innocent people).

your making an uneducated assumption about me. have you observed in my post anywhere that i hate anything or anybody? or have you observed the word hate? you claim to be a christian, your making false accusations about someone, thats not going to get you to heaven. looks like your the one not reading the post and jumping to conclusions. i will admit to you that i dislike unsafe truckers, but i do not hate anyone.
