I am looking for the former store of John M. Rose, one of Hazel Green's prominent citizens from a century ago. All I know is that it was on Main Street and I don't know if still exists.
Using Google Maps Street view I see one at Main and Broadway that might be the right vintage and one at Main and State with a sloping roof.

The Hazel Green Herald archived in the Library of Congress shows he had a store or stores from about 1887 through at least 1908.
Any help would be appreciated.

The years you given for the store would put it being at what was called Town Square which was at the mouth of Murphy Fork.Hazel Green was made then where it is at today even the locals fail to grasp its origin.

Check out the gas and oil listing of maps. They have a John M Rose on about 50 gas and oil permits!! My GG and GGG may have been the ones that drilled them. They drilled Caskey's my GGG.

You can open the permits to see if their is a map but I think those old permits just have a listing w/o map.
There is a Goole map link for you to zoom into the area.
It is Carter Coordinate R-79-7.
I will run the listing of items we have researched for the name.
GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY RESEARCHING-- it is better than TV, isn't it :>>

No problem. Thanks for the contact info.

Wonder if the original poster found the information they were seeking? Historical research is a very slow process...
