what the hell do you do for a living that makes you think you have the right to talk about police officers like that. the only weak part of an officer's job is protecting disrespectful people like you. i'm sure you talk bad about the army too. just because one officer MAY have made a mistake doesn't mean they are all crooked. go back to your job flippin burgers loser..

In response to Danny in Decatur, I don't you but you must be some piece of work to make such a comment, domestic abuse is the biggest killers of police officers today because they go in an attempt to bring peace to both parties not knowing the circumstances and the biggest part of the time they end up being the victim from both parties. whether you like it or not they protect you also and they put their lives on the line for tou no matter what kind of piece of crap you might be.with your kind of thinking and attitude the next time you need dire help don't call an officer for help I don't want to have to bury an officer who would give his/her life for the likes of you

May there be peace for this " officers" family and friends. I hope the deceased couples' people find closure. A very sad event unfolded that day when the[domestic violence] took over.
God bless" America"...again. carrie

The bottom line is the officer in question should be held accountable. The dept should have been able to handle the situation better. Maybe it's a lack of training. I know officers do not have an easy job (well easy compared to big cities), but the fact is the wife was killed and the dept should not have tried to cover it up.

This does not help the public's view of the Madison County Sheriff's dept.

How sad! I don't know any of the people involved in this story but my heart breaks at the outcome. Poor children have been left without their parents. I am praying for those babies.

In response to"who cares." Can U honestly blame the entire police dept w/ this mess? You may as well blame [CUPID] as to blame the entire police division. Wake up America. carrie

The officer didn't kill anyone! The gun did! It was the gun people! If the officer didn't have a gun, this wouldn't have happened, or at least that's what the gun control freaks would say. If you are I did this, wouldn't be on any kind of leave, would be in jail. Really bad for all involved.

In response to Murder Charge.... I knew Telisha and no, she was not having an affair with anyone. Stop blaming the victim! Her family reads these comments. You didn't know her and you certainly do not know her family. Telisha was devoted to her husband, enough to lie and make excuses every time she had a black eye or bruised arms. She loved him and believed that she could change him. She had a really nice family and really nice kids, both of which continue to suffer her loss. I can't imagine how awful the police officer or the family must feel to know that this horrible accident could have been prevented. Everyone has a loss. So Murder Charge, show some sensitivity, and keep your National Enquirer Comments to your self.

Everyone keeps saying cover up and I don't think they even read the report. The ABI states in the first line that the Sherriff's dept. REQUESTED them to conduct an investigation. There were several deputies that were there and stated the husband held a gun to her head. They also all stated that the husband fired first. This guy was also supposed to be friends with them. He worked with them. Everybody always wants to make a conspiracy theory out of everything. Read the whole damn report before you comment. Understand there are more facts then what are in this report that pertain. Believe it or not most cops want to help people they're not muderous scum the media just like to make them look that way for ratings. If you think all the facts to this case are what WHNT is allowing you to see.............. Well it's not even worth trying to explain.

You don't have to be in Law Enforcement to know this don't add up. Been on Administration Leave since the shooting, that tells me the Sheriff Dept knew the story did add up with the scene they had. And if Malone didn't have anything to hide, why did he lie about Earls shooting his Wife? Rumor around town is that Malone was having an affair with Mrs Earls. Guess we will see what happens from here, will not be suprised at all if Malone is charged with some type of Murder. It is funny how Chris Stevens is trying to do damage control, but then again its always funny to see someone act smarter than they really are!
Any time a deputy's weapon is fired they are automatically placed on administrative leave. Also, shame on you for you "rumor around town." You sound worse than Aunt Bee!

Our society is leaning toward the police state. Although I am sure the officer did not mean to or was not looking to kill anyone, the fact of the matter is that he did. To officers daughter, just because your father was a police officer does not give you the right to chastize anyone for questioning police action. It is our right and duty as citizens to question police actions and if you do not believe that then you need to move to China or somewhere that practices a strangle hold on freedom via local police. It is a terrible incident but to say it was unavoidable is just a lie.

The deputy was doing his job. He fired a shot and missed. Either way, he did nothing wrong. The responsibility lies, not on the deputy, but on the husband who was running around like a nut with a gun aimed at his wife's head.
