Is anyone surprised that the mayor has squandered all of the city's money and is now unable to even pay the police to patrol our city?

For months; at City Council meetings I have listened as the ever increasing monthly payroll was read. I heard all of the aldermen vote to approve; wondered and commented how this could go on before; the city check book hit NSF. Everyone and anyone had to be able to figure out the city would eventually be unable to make payroll sooner or later.

At the last city council I believe a resolution was passed, asking the county to issue property tax bills in a timely manner, unlike last year when they were issued late. I can only imagine that this is because we desperately need the money.

The frasor-peloquin team have more than enough money coming in to the treasury. I blame the twenty five years jobs for votes program. But then again, blame the voters who voted, or did not vote.

seems they are telling the police to give up a quarter of their pay with the promise they will get reimbursed at the end of the year. right! wonder if the management is taking a salary cut? mayor? chief of staff? treasurer? the cops also have to make a monthly quota of tickets where is that revenue going? if you thought the police attitude was bad before just try them out now... i mean im just sayin

If you got rid of all the political hires you could cut the budget by say 30 percent, maybe more.

captain free your wrong the pension isnt funded by the city alone the officers contribute, taxes also. the board isnt ran by the city its is run by members past and present with the monies contributed being invested. the pensions have not a lot to do with the fact there isnt money in blue island maybe its the fact that they will spend the dollar to save a penny attitude

The sad fact is that all employees are only getting half their checks twice in the next couple of months. The jobs that have passed out by peloquin is just part of his total scam...I'm sure that's not the only piece of the puzzle as to why they are not getting paid. Try telling your mortgage company that you are getting half your pay...when is this town and all of peloquins supporters going to wake up and start questioning this administration...I can't take this &$@?! anymore.

If all this is true it is quite obvious the southtown is under the spell of the peloquin administration and is no longer a credible source for community news! I have not seen or heard any alderpeople defy or question peloquin why?
