To all those that say they will come in there and do my job: Are you willing to get the same wages for 3 years, insurance get higher, pay deductibles/copays? On top of that you can only use the insurance at an ARH. You will not be able to afford to go to Pikeville, UK, or other hospitals because some of those deductibles are $50,000 a year. Did you read that it is not a typo?$50,000 deductible and then your insurance would only cover 80%. You would still have to pay 20% of the bills once you reach your $50,000 deductible. Now, after that could you take some of the language and the attitudes that SOME doctors dish out? I honestly don't think you will work for that.
Well join the crowd, everyone is like this these days and if you all get all the money who will be paying the hospital because we will have none!!!!!

My point exactly!! Who said anything about wanting more money? You people obviously have no idea what your talking about. You see ARH is taking money away from us among other things. We would be extremely happy to leave everything we have now untouched and just keep working. We are just trying to keep what we have so we can keep putting food on the table for our families for the next 3 years. It is sad so many people are out of jobs in this area. Everyone calls us greedy, but greedy is when you want someone to strike so you can take our job...that is GREEDY.

Hello. The 83 persons are not doctors and nurses, correct? So it will be the techs, housekeepers, maintenance workers. When will the strike start and how long will it last? Who will replace the 83 who are going on strike? I hope the patent car does not suffer.

It will be more then 83 people. In hazard alone they have at least 600 union employees. We are talking about every ARH facility. Hospitals, clinics, HHA, Home care store Cancer Center. The employees include, Housekeeping, lab workers, maintenance, LPN's, Nurses Aides, Clerks X-ray workers, every dept. will lose workers. Just about everyone but RN's and administration. So no matter what they (CEO's) say. Patient care will suffer. Always does!
I'm praying very hard for a solution.

To all the coal miners who have lost their jobs: I'm so sorry for all of you but just think, if you would've been union they could not just send you home like they did. That is a very important reason why we NEED our union.

It's the Obama way, limited care means limited expense health care cost will be reduced and some folks will die but not presidents, congressman or senators or their family's this vaster of a president is getting what he wants.
This will lead to fights in the streets, poor and homeless wondering around looking in dumpster for spare food a discrace to our county ,

The local news reports say the administration is making contigency plans so no disruption is pt care occurs...how to they find the staff? Any idea how long this one will last? Looked back and discovered there was a strike in 2007 and it lasted one month, then the nurses (a different union)stuck later in the same year, could not find how long it lasted. Never knew there were unions in the healthcare arena

Lets get some facts straight. We did not say was going to strike, the letter says "intent to strike." What this means is our current contract is good up thru midnight on March 31. Beginning April 1 we no longer have a contract. The union and ARH has until then to come to an agreement. The union by union law is required to give a 10 day notice of an intentional strike. If the union does not comply with a 10 day notice, could be fined. This "intent to strike" was only given as a union rule "just in case."

A major part of the contingency plan includes ARH non-union administrative workers putting their jobs on hold and filling in for clerks and other positions that they can be considered qualified to do. There is also plans of hiring temporary personnel as needed.

arh.org has a lot of information on what is going on.

When you say you have the "intent" to do something, is usually means you plan to do it...Just saying. Best regards that the matters get resolved, for the sake of the patients.

Union rep was condoning violence directed at so called "scabs" Saying that he knows the jailer and guarantees that no one would spend a night in jail over it. How pathetic is that? I would seriously hurt someone who intentionally did harm to my vehicle. This is gonna get bad really fast. If I recall, when the nurses went on strike, there were some who were never called to come back to work, right? Lost their jobs for good.

That will be 83 drawing unemployment instead of striking.Interesting I think.
