I agree staffer...These union workers wanna talk unfair labor practices? Really? That is so 1960's and early '70's. Get a grip. They have a job, they have insurance, they can support their families. Most people would be grateful to have a job like they have. It could be much worse. Also, when it comes to safety issues, there are other avenues that you can turn to now other than your so called union reps that will help you. It isn't as bad as it used to be when there was nothing around to help people.
My idea is this, if you want to strike...then strike. But how dare someone call another co worker a scab just because they have a family, bills and sickness that they need to take care of. There is NOT a single person on that picket line that would stand up and buy another co workers groceries or pay their bills and that is a fact. It is sad that they will yell strike and in solidarity but when it came down to it, its every man for himself and you all know it.
Be thankful for what you have, judge no man for what he does and appreciate each other. You have NO clue what people are going through so you have no right to name call and threaten.

I am one that will be standing on the line if we strike and I am only income in my family so flopjaw don't go there when u say we don't know what other person maybe going through. If u cross picket line u are a lot worse than just a scab u don't have the balls to stand for what u believe in want someone to do it for you so u can rack up the overtime while they suffer for you. scab is a polite name for you. but if we do go on strike I will have no problem putting your name in big bold letters on our wall of scabs for everyone to see

There will be more scabs than ever, this will be the end of the Union. The Union sense of entitlement is about to bite the dust, this county needs to shut that junk yard down. Hire new admin. and straighten that load of cow plop up!!

Hctc is graduating how many nurses a year? Big sandy graduates how many? Southeast graduates how many? Lol go ahead and strike... And ARH will be forced to cave in because you're so irreplaceable. Lol gimme a break.

In all seriousness, can someone lay out what the problem with the new contract is? I've heard it's pretty unfair but what exactly is ARH's offer?

Well the Union wants everyone to make 30 dollars an hour, get 50% raises yearly. Not pay one cent on their insurance and no copays. If they understood the shape healthcare is in they would shut up and put their asses back to work.

The contract is posted on the ARH website. You will need the current contract to compare. From what I read, they are losing a lot.

and also other than losing alot if talks of raising the cost of insurance makes it alot harder on people that dont make alot in the first place such as kitchen workers or housekeeping, barely make anything as it is. 7.60 an hour your new to housekeeping dept and if you have to get the family plan for insurance that takes quite a chunk out of an already small paycheck.

Paid fairly? I currently make $9.00 an hour. I don't get my standard rate of pay until 2015. Tell me exactly how I get paid fairly when I could make more at Walmart. Benefits to match you say? I get cut $90.00 biweekly for my husband and I for insurance, and ARH is trying to make to where we won't be able to afford it. The biggest misconception that people that DON'T work there is we get paid "fairly" because we work at ARH, however, you are sorely mistaken. No one said that we weren't "happy" that we didn't have a job, but that's why we have the union.

I make $8.02 an hour and pay $90 for insurance for my husband and myself. I made $390 for the past 2 weeks for 72 hours so tell me exactly how am I overpaid? I work hard for my family and I don't think any of us want to go on strike.

A scab is a person who works with you that crosses the picket line to do your job! Not some outside person who delivers food and supplies to the hospital. You call me a scab this time,I'm getting out on you..

As a former United Steel worker I have been on both sides of the fence Till you walk a mile in a steel workers shoes & truly understand what does happen behind those doors you will only have the rumors & hear say that is being spilled by the nay sayers Talk to a proud union worker & get to the truth & only then will you understand Were smart enough to get to the truth & by pass the B/S
