The company overall is good. Sometimes the other companies not doing well get bought out, does that make Revelation the bad guys? I don't think so. Maybe LCC should be held accountable for having to sell.

I think it is an awesome company, good pay, good benefits, and decent hours..I understand some get laid off when they buy other companies, but that is everywhere right now. Frasure Creek laid off all there men in ky besides a few and they will be laid off shortly. Don't confuse Frasure Creek with Revelation, Jimmy Branham and Jeff Hoops is what made Frasure creek then they sold it for millions of dollars. The company was awesome to work for when they owned it, once Essar bought it out it kept going down hill. Anyways Revelation is buying up companies now rumors are floating that they will be buying some of the old frasure creek jobs, which means they will hire for those job sites so with the way coal has been here lately any companies that is expanding and doing hires is not a company I want to slander.

I would love to go check out the site outside of jackson. I want to get some nice pictures about how coal is processed. Do you think I would be allowed to take a "tour" of what they do there? Or is something like that out of the question?

They have apparently bought Martin County Coal and Excel's Van Lear Mine and Prep Plant. This is a case where the management was accepting kickbacks from vendors with substandard products and ran the cost of mining coal. Most managers know nothing comes free, and these kickbacks are recovered by the vendor thru either prices or quality. The management were young people who, for the most part never worked anywhere else, So the job was shut down.

Don't know about Excel's Van Lear mine but Martin County Coal's property is about mined out. Last I heard they were just reclaiming over at the old Martiki Job. Just saying they have been mining on MCC property for over 40 years.

Jeff Hoops bought Excel's Van Lear mine in 72" of coal, the Van Lear or Elkhorn 3 seam which ever you prefer, he's also opened a couple strip mines in Martin Co. near Martin County Coal. I'm not sure on if he's bought MCC not much coal left on those properties. He did get an ICG Hazard permit called "Gobblers Knob". Mitch Potter bought ICG Hazard in March & it's a good thing Potter & Hoops are expanding, they are proven successful coal operators not the corporate dumbasses that have been running these coal companies into the ground & bankrupting them. Everyone needs to really support both Potter & Hoops b/c they are the kind of men that can keep east ky coal mines running & keep miners & truckers working. These guys are for real, they're money & financials are rock solid & plentiful, there is no BS with those two. Myself & my father & grandfather owned & operated an independent coal mining company since 1968 to 2010 & I still remain involved in the ky-wv coal business, I know every operator good & bad, trust me when I say that Mitch Potter & Jeff Hoops are the men to bring eastern KY's coal industry back to a thriving industry, support these guys & their companies they're the ray of light the business needed in these dark & gloomy times.

I was just wandering if any of these mines are underground and if so where do you put in an application with this company or where do you go to talk to someone? Thanks

Jeff Hoops's Revelation Energy is mining underground at the old Excel Van Lear Mine in Martin / Johnson county. Mitch Potter however has Blackhawk & Redhawk Mining & he's got several underground operations in Floyd county. I know he's rolling the coal because I was at Blackhawk's Prep Plant & Loadout two weeks ago & they were putting out a lot of coal from a deep mine in the Elkhorn # 3 coal seam, plus he is mining the Elkhorn # 1 seam & more mines in the # 3 seam. JMP Coal Holdings has a web site & they control Blackhawk & Redhawk. I'm not sure about job openings, but I do know they are developing & facing up a couple of deep mines, rumour is they are big face ups & they're proposed to be large operations. JMP Coal Holdings is the parent company of Blackhawk & Redhawk, Jeff Sands is one of the main guys in charge.

Jeff Hoops & Revelation did purchase Bledsoe & Bell County Coal, as well as some of James River Coal Services Strip Mines. He also bought Arch's Cumberland River Coal. In January Hoops began operating two mines at Bledsoe in the Hazard #4 Seam & two deep mines at BCC. Give Hoops a year & you'll start seeing more job openings for miners in Leslie, Bell, & Harlan Counties. He has the connections to acquire the good coal sales contracts. Revelation Energy started out back in 2010 just mining two surface mines in Pike County & one in Perry County, since then, even with most companies shutting down & the coal industry at it's worst, Hoops has turned three mines into a total of 21. Support Jeff Hoops & Mitch Potter b/c these guys are keeping coal mining alive in eastern KY.

Any word on who bought JAD Coal in Coldiron? Heard rumors it was Revelations but I also heard Jeff Dean was buying it back himself?
