Because everyone is broke. I heard that when you do get a tax refund it will be direct deposit and if you dont have a bank account it will be put on a debit card.

H%R Block is not offering a rapid refund because of a problem they are having with the bank that they use it does not mean that other places are not offering rapid refund ???

H&R Block is not offering a refund anticipation loan, but they do have the refund anticipation check. It takes from 8-15 days to get. They did have problems with their bank and are working on something so they can offer it again for the 2011-2012 tax season. However, Less Tax is offering the rapid refund. If approved, you will be able to get your money the next day, if not the same day.

I don't know why people do these anyway....the fees are OUTRAGEOUS. Why not just do direct deposit? You have your refund in 8-14 days.

rapid refund = refund anticipation loan

Rapid refunds are really just short term VERY HIGH INTEREST loans. The bank gives you the money through your tax preparer and the irs pays the bank back after they process your tax return.

Actually the IRS is stopping the Rapid Refund for a few reasons. Rapid Refund has caused lawsuits due to people using fake w-2, using fake deductions, etc. Tax Payers are getting their Refund before the IRS is able to review there taxes and then the Banks offering Rapid Refund are loosing there money ending in a lawsuit. Also the lenders that give you the loan (rapid Refund) are charging high interset and taking to much of the tax payers money. So the IRS is considering stopping tax preparers from offering lenders tax payers information for Rapid Refund Loans. Find it all out at:http://www.taxgirl.com/irs- may-say-no-to-rapid-refund-typ e-loans/

Not trying to start anything, but yes, kinda desperate here. Husband lost his job and just started a new job that he's not going to get many hours and only pays $7.25hr. and we have a newborn, diapers isn't cheap and bills that we are behind on. So, yes kinda desperate. And last year, it took like 4-5weeks to get it back and I figure this year will be no different.
