On there Rowdy Gap job on Monday, ICG put off a shot and it went over the hill and took out an entire road below. They ran down there and tried to haul a bunch of gravels to fix things, but they never called in the inspecters. Ain't you supposed to report it, if you do something like that ? How do they get away with that ?

They won't do anything to them. ICG has the right people paid off. No inspectors have the balls to try to shut them down. I know exactly where this happened at. It is true. They NEVER called it in and reported it. They just tried to cover it up. If the State and Federal had any guts, they would have done something about this. GUTLESS !!! ICG has a Bentley guy and a Risner guy up there bossing that aren't from around here. They think they are so much better than the people from this area. I guess they figured they could get away with covering it up..........and they have, so far.

So why do people worship coal operators then? |

how do you know they didn't call someone was you standing there? you know things take time and I am sure they will fix things back once they are told what to do as for the gravels those were porbably put there for the mean time so the road would still be travelable.everything with the coal company's goes through chain of command once they are told what to do then they will, everything will be inspected first then it goes from there. wait at least a couple weeks before you start complaining things can't be done over night it takes time man. it has to go through the boss on the hill then several people through the office then several safety inspecters and then the main mining inspecters to see exactly what went wrong so it doesn't happen again then they begin the process of cleaning up and repair things that was messed up. and as for getting away with things they don't they are fined huge amounts of money plus have to fix it, they are fined several thousands of dollars just for park lights being out on equipment so you can image the price on something like this know the facts first.

The FACTS are...........they knew they would be fined, so they tried to cover it up. They NEVER called the State of Federal, or they would have came right out. Know what you are talking about, when you put your two cents worth in. You don't. A misfired shot, or blowout, is a major concern and it requires immediate attention. If the inspectors had been called, they would have been on that job in minutes. It doesn't take days for things to happen when there is an incident such as this. You are very uninformed. Rumor has it, and I did say it was a rumor, was that the on site blaster told the drillers to cut off because that was all he could shoot. The Bentley guy came right behind him and told him to keep drilling it and then told the blaster to shoot it. Well, he shot it, and it went over the hill, through the timber, and took out a road. Procedure is to call State and Federal IMMEDIATELY. It was not done. The blaster is clear and free on this one. He was overruled by his supervisor, it all falls on him for doing such a stupid thing. He could have gotten someone killed. It wouldn't be the first time with this guy either. He has had men killed under hid supervision before. With his idiotic mine practices, he will get even more killed. Guys like him are why these companies get such bad reputations.

hey now, the coal company's have an impeccable record when it comes to cleaning up their messes. just ask, martin county, buffalo creek WV, and harrimam tn.

Well, any more news on this incident?
|

where on Rowdy Gap is this?
|
||||

Nothing new. They have evidently been successful in covering it up. Figures !!! No inspectors have been there. It is a part of the old Cockrells Fork job, they just changed the name of it to Rowdy Gap. They call it the "President's Holler" on the C.B.

We do not have anyone paid off. I don't work at the Rowdy Mine, but they never hesitate to shut us down if we do not have everything in order.

While you guys are bitching about coal companies ;) Talk about those in China. I heard they lose a few miners a day! The mines in the United States are some of the safest in the world! |
||||
I don't live in china. |
