My wife and I live in Manchester and we have heard about the bargains over there. Is this a good place to shop for groceries?

I live in manchester also and i shop at united grocery all the time. You really have to take your time and look for the bargains. the store is made up of groceries from different store chains. There may be some bent boxes and such, but their meat department is really great with the best prices i have seen in hazard. My daughter comes from whitesburg to do her weekly shopping there. The store is by no means fancy, but it is clean and has good service. You can't find certain brands of things but i shop there first then what i can't find then i go somewhere else and finish my shopping. I have saved a lot of money shopping there.Hope this helps,it really is worth the trip.

Just be real careful. These are brands from other stores that are being retuned. The dates are about to exired or just expired.

I shop there every now and then. Like everyone else said, check the dates on everything. I once bought a 6 pack of baby food there and it was 4 months past the expiration date. They shouldn't be allowed to sale expired baby products.

Food out of date won't hurt anyone when it comes to cereal, crackers or Jello or canned stuff. Even eggs are good for 2 months after the expiration date. The only thing it really matters on is the bread and meats....and some of the dairy.
United Grocery is a great place to get groceries to stock up on.

I work there and I think it's a pretty nifty place. Yeah some of the stuff is outdated but it's not gonna hurt you cause it's frozen before the date runs out. They have awesome deals. Seriously, go other places and look. The same stuff is like 3 dollars more somewhere else. Granted they don't have all the thnings you may be looking for but they ARE called an OUTLET store. Whatever comes on the truck is what they get in. They can't really control it. And also they don't make the prices, the prices are sent to them on the trucks. Yes, the bathrooms are gross but that's only cause the person who cleans them goes home early in the day. Someone can't be there 24 hours a day like at Walmart to clean. To be perfectly honest, if you don't like the fact that the store is often muddy due to the constant flow of traffic in there take your business somewhere else where you'll pay a much higher price.

Myself and a friend paid UGO a visit the other day and somethings were ok. The meats were good wasn't much of a selection but I think that was because there was snow in the forcast. But my friend didn't have her glasses with her and the next day while I was eating some of the crackers that she bought, I noticed that there was a weird taste but they were only outdated in '07. So you do have to be careful with that. I bought some fabric softener (Downy) that had a very good price. The container was all in spanish a very big one for 3.99. You don't see any frills while you are there and the store really smelled bad. Like wet cardboard boxes. But you can't be one of those people like me when you go there I don't like to spend a lot of time browsing and you have to do that there.
