People are now being arrested at the ER for drug seeking. Apparently, people have complained for waiting too long there and have complained that people are talking about drugs out in the waiting area. To crack down on drugs and help the ER out, UNITE and others are arresting people there.... Interesting. About time this takes place.

how could they arrest someone for just talking about it in the waiting room? That does'nt make much sence to me. But i dont know what happened either. If they were there to get drugs for no reason i don't see the doctor giving it to them if nothing is wrong but i still dont know how they could arrest them for talking about it.

E.R. should have never started giving the pain meds in the first place and they would not have this problem now. The drugies know how to work the system. I have seen them call an ambulance to take them to E.R. and get their shots and then brag as they walk out the door. They know they don't have to wait if they come in by ambulance. E.R. has done this shit for years. When will people learn that you can't get the meds unless a doctor prescribs it to the patient. What about getting some of the doctors, also.
I dont know about that

I was brought into the er by ambulance after being attacked by a dog, was pregnant, and bleeding, and they sent me out to the waiting room! I don't see how the rest of them get to go right on back

You were not a drugie. Then, they wonder why ARH has such a bad name. They need to clean it up or shut it down. Plain and simple.
charges

Now, this is hard for me to believe. May I ask what is the name of the charge for being at an er to get pain meds? I just don't think there is one. Maybe if you are prescribed meds and you are double-dipping, they can probably pull up your KASPER report and get you for doctor shopping. But only in that situation do I foresee that there is any kind of charge for this. Can anyone tell me what those supposed 5 arrests were charged with? I find this interesting but it is unbelievable to me.

first they need to start with those pill pushjng doctors. they get people hooked that don't need pain meds, then cut them offand guess what, that opens up a market for the drug dealers. you know they have to get their fix somewhere. i think that when doctors prescibe pain pills and nerve pills to a patient so long and cut them off, they should have to pay for the patients detox and rehab. bet your your ass that would make a difference, when they had to give some of that dope money back,DON,T YOU.

NOOOOO don't blame addiction on the doctor. It's the person taking the medication that makes the decision to contnue taking meds they don't need. If you're taking drugs that make you feel good they're probably addicting and you know that. If you continue to take pain pills for 6 months after a sprained ankle you know what you're getting into. Doctors stop writing prescriptions and then you buy it off the street. Because a doctor gives you a narcotic does not mean you have to take it and certainly no excuse to abuse it and become dependent on it.

pain management doctors are what i am referring to. you dont have to have much wrtong with vyou to get alot of meds and no one goes to sleep at night and says" hey i want to wake up tommorow and be a drug addict". doctors are giving these pills to the younger people that are not in that much pain as well as people wjth chronic pain that really need their meds.

If the doctor wrote you a prescription for Insulin and you're not a diabetic you would not get that prescription filled and if you did you wouldn't take the medication and you would probably change doctors. Same thing with narcotics. If you don't want to become addicted to them...don't take them and if you do have to take them take only as prescribed and move on to milder meds as condition improves. You don't need to still be taking Lortab 6 months after an appendectomy. Well unless the doctor sewed a towel up inside of you but even then you would want to get that removed therefore no more pain and no need for Lortab.

The doctor knows damn well, when narcotics are addictive. Why do they keep writing the prescriptions????..... Because there is money in his pocket every times he writes a scrip and of course a office visit. It is nothing but a racket. A drug dealer can't get these narcotics without a prescription either. Yes, they are doctor hopping. In state or out of state. The doctors are as money hungry as the drug dealers. It still boils down to, if the doctor doesn't write the scrip, the patient can not take them. It is all about MONEY!!!!!

i am glad there are a few sensible people left around here that do see the matter and facts of what these pill pushing doctors are doing.

Blah blah blah. You don't have to take it! Be quick to realize that your doctor is a money hungry quack and that he is trying to get you addicted to drugs and change doctors. The decision to use and abuse narcotics is YOURS.

I don't understand why drug addicts try to blame their addiction on everybody but themselves! It's your choice to abuse the drugs! If I have a bottle of pain pills does that mean I have to take them if I'm not in pain? People keep taking them because they make them feel good that's how they get addicted.Don't blame the Dr.'s. Ever hear that old saying...don't shoot the messenger...same principle.

I agree, no one puts a gun to their heads for them to do the drugs, but where do they get the narcotics?? Duh!!! From the doctors.!!!!!.... To be a nurse, you should ,by all means know that. Where do the drug dealers get the narcotics from?? THE DOCTORS!!!! Why do the doctors keeps writing the scrips over and over, weekly, monthly or any other time?? Money, money money.

You people are really idiots. I think some of you have nothing better to do than sit in front of your computer and just make things up! Geta job! Get a hobby, for god's sake!I've worked at the e.r for years and we haven't been prescribing narcotics to patients there for a very long time. In only the most severe cases where patients obviously need them are they prescribed, and then it's only enough for them to go to their regular dr. the next day, and trust me, we know the difference between someone who needs them and someone just looking for drugs. And NOBODY was or has been arrested in the e.r for talking about drugs,or asking for them. You could sit next to a police officer and talk all day about drugs and unless you are actually found in possession of drugs you're not going to be arrested. You could even come right out and ask a dr. for pain meds and all he can do is say no and refuse to see you next time. you CANNOT be arrested for simply talkind about drugs, even if you're talking about doing them,as long as you don't have them in your possession. If anybody was arrested(and it did't happen when i was there)it wasn't for TALKING or even ASKING about drugs. People, get a life!
