This company has the best scam running--ever-first you sign up for the $49 plan and are assured that you will have coverage for xx number of counties; 3 days before your bill is processed you will recieve a call stating that in order to "avoid" roaming charges that are in excess of $100, you can now upgrade to $59 or $69 plan; this is good and well until 3 days before your next bill is processed and guess what you get another call urging you to upgrade again due to running over your minutes because (no you have no roaming charges but they count the roaming minutes against your plan minutes, even tho you were assured that roaming is free and unlimited within the "covered" area. Aren't they just peachy? I will be turning this in to the BBB.

My husband, son, and I have Appalachian Wireless and this has never happened to any of us...however, we have had our phones for several years so maybe this is just a scam on new customers...hope you get this fixed to your satisfaction.

I use AT&T. I used to have Appy Wireless and I now refuse to give them 1 cent of my money.

that and they discontinue the good phones so when you go to get another one, you always have to pay more. now it looks like they're going blackberry and if you don't text, what's the point in one? where i live, i can't get the internet they're offering on the other phone (in order to get that phone, you have to pay five dollars a month extra for internet. they're running a so called special on it for fifty dollars. by the time you pay five extra a month for something you can't even use for two years...what's the point? and where's the 'good deal'?).
it's all a rip man. jus a rip.
they need more competition in here that has better service in the leslie area and other rural places to where more would buy the others.

I've had Appalachian Wireless for years and have never had this problem. My only complaint is that they don't have a big selection of phones. If you aren't ready to sign a new contract, ou have to pay a lot. However, they do have some good deals right now on phones if you are signing a new contract.

We have a nationwide plan and have used it all over the eastern US with no roaming fees ever. The service is good. We have very rarely run into a place where there is no service. My phone works a lot of places that the crappy AT&T phones we have at work won't.

Don't bother getting the insurance on your phone. My phone broke and it was going to cost me $150 deductable to fix that crappy phone. I didn't pay that much for it. I actually had some bimbo tell me my phone was activated and she had not even turned it on, I haven't seen an intelligent person working at the Hazard store yet. I go somewhere else and will change companies as soon as my contract runs out, that is another ripoff. If I don't have a working phone what do I need their service for and I have to buy out my contract to get a phone at a decent price. they sell you cheapy phones knowing they wont last for 2 years.

Well if their service doesn't improve they're not going to have any customers. Lately you can't get service half the time.

I agree there service sucks they don't want to help you when you go over there. They act like you should already know how things work. If your phone gets messed up your screwed because they want ever try to help you. More worried about talking on there phones. You can't choose the replacement phone that you want you have to take whatever they will give you. There rates are unreal and some phones you have to buy data package to get them. Why buy data package when you don't use it. Pathetic, they really need some competition because at&t doesn't have service in a lot of areas. If you get a new phone they can't even transfer your numbers or contacts.

THEY JUST CUT MY PHONE OFF 6 HOURS EARLY AND IM ON PRE PAYED AND THEY DO IT EVERY MOUNTH SAYING MY 30 DAYS IS UP SO THIS TIME I WATE A FEW DAYS AND DO IT AGEEN LOSING MY LEFTOVER MIN"S THIS TIME IT IS 29 DAYS PHONE IS OFF I CALL 611 AND ASK WHY AGEEN ALL THEY CAN SAY IS YOUR TIME IS UP AND I SAY NO IT'S NOT IVE GOT THE RECIPT AND THEN THEY COME BACK AT ME YOU USED YOUR MIN UP AND I SAY NO IVE NOT IVE ONLEY TALKED TO APPALACHIAN WIRELESS COUSTERMERS AND THEY JUST HUNG UP ON ME,IM LETING THEM KEEP THER PHONE SERVICE.

I was done the same damn way and i dont even use my phone that much. i just got my bill saying that i owe $398 bucks for stuff that i didnt even get on my phone so i called them and the little smarta^s girl said that i had got all this stuff put on my phone a week before i got my bill. so i went down to gordons photo center and they got it lined out for me come to find out my bill was only $74 bucks but im going to find another phone company to deal with cause this bunch sucks.

You would think Eastern Kentucky is not a part of the U.S. Geez, are the people who live and work in the area, ever going to be able to get services, that most of the U.S. has already had for years.

It's a ridiculous situation. The whole area is repressed and the business structure shows that. it's just not acceptable.

Someone said, " well it is a rural area, in the mountains." I said, so are many cities in the Rockies, and they have modern services and conveniences. Why not Appalachia.

try *228 for phone update but i agree cause u have to pay ur $55 a month plus a $30 multimedia thing thats so stupid. i can stick to my old phone for now

If u go in to pay your bill, you have to wait forever. Some of the employees act like rude asses. Almost all their plans are rip-offs. It's much cheaper to get a Net 10 Unlimited, or A Walmart Straight Talk Phone.
